Welcome to your new monthly guide to special events at City of Joondalup Libraries.

Our libraries are at the heart of the community. They are welcoming spaces where people of all ages can come together to learn, share and grow.

This month?s events include information sessions on creating cockatoo friendly suburbs and becoming an accidental counsellor as well as several Meet the Author events For families, our autumn school holiday program has lots of exciting activities for 5-12 year olds.

Join us for the opportunity to learn something new, meet new people and engage in your community.

Our libraries also hold many regular programs, clubs and groups for all ages and interests From Story Time and Rhyme Time for little ones to book clubs, craft groups and tech help for adults, there?s something for everyone. Wednesday 8 April, 6-7pm | St Stephen?s Theatre

Join bestselling Australian author Natasha Lester for the exclusive launch of her new novel, The Chateau on Sunset. Natasha will be joined by fellow writer Anthea Hodgson for a special Q&A session.

Meet the Author ? Dave Warner

Wednesday 29 April, 6-7pm | Duncraig Library

Join prolific crime writer and musician Dave Warner for a night of music and intrigue. Dave will be launching his new book, Sound Mind Dead Body accompanied by guitar.

Libby Reads ? The Ghost Walk by Karen Herbert

Wednesday 15 April, 7:30pm

This month?s title is available to download from Tuesday 24 March as an eBook or audiobook via the Libby App. The Book Club event includes a live author chat with David Allan-Petale.

Cuttings and Cake with the tree doctor

Saturday 18 April, 9:30am | Duncraig Library

Join the regular community garden where you can swap plants and ask questions ? this time with the City?s own tree doctor! Learn from Luisa Galata about the many benefits of trees and bring your cuttings or cakes along to share over morning tea

Community Session ? Accidental Counsellor

Tuesday 21April, 9:30am - 4pm | Joondalup Library

This full day workshop provides participants with practical skills to support someone who may be experiencing relationship difficulties, emotional distress, or a sense of hopelessness Presented by Helping Minds.

Parenting Workshop ? Reading Ready

Wednesday 22 April, 10-11am | Whitford Library

Gain insight into the skills children need to begin reading and how you can support their learning at home using our dedicated Reading Ready Packs, created with literacy experts from the Dyslexia-SPELD foundation. Packs will be available to borrow on the day.

Do you want to meet new people, share your skills or make a difference in the community? Then come along to a free Step into Volunteering session. No cost. Register online.

Discovery Session ? Creating Cockatoo Friendly Suburbs

Thursday 30 April, 6-7pm | Woodvale Library

Join Dr Christine Groom as she discusses Creating Black Cockatoo Friendly Suburbs, a practical and beautifully illustrated guide to making our suburbs more welcoming to wildlife, especially Perth?s most recognisable and charismatic birds, the endangered Carnaby?s cockatoo.

Tree-themed Story Time

Children will love the stories, songs and activities about trees and nature in this special tree-themed week of our regular Story Time sessions. No cost. No bookings required.

The Golden Feather Hunt ? Scribblers Festival

Tuesday 3 March ? Friday 8 May | City of Joondalup Libraries

As part of the 2026 Scribblers Festival for children, there will be thousands of feather-shaped bookmarks hidden in public libraries all over Western Australia. Head into any of our libraries and see if you can find one of four different kinds of feathers, with a variety of prizes to be won.

Regular children?s programs

At Joondalup Libraries, we believe every story is a seed that helps little minds grow. Our regular children?s programs, like Story Time and Rhyme Time, create a gentle, welcoming space where families can connect, laugh and learn together. Through songs, rhymes and delightful tales, we nurture early literacy skills and spark a lifelong love of reading and language. Easter closures

All Joondalup Libraries will be closed on Friday 3, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 April.

ANZAC Day public holiday

All Joondalup Libraries will be closed on Saturday 25 and Monday 27 April. Joondalup Library will be open on Sunday 26 March. The May Events Guide will be released online and in print on Monday 13 April
