of Joondalup Libraries.
Our libraries are at the heart of the community. They are welcoming spaces where people of all ages can come together to learn, share and grow.
This month’s events include Discovery Sessions on AI, Noongar language and botanical watercolours and a free Community Session on talking about death. We continue to attract high profile authors to our libraries, with Holly Craig, Angela Slatter and Kathleen Jennings visiting this month. Join us for the opportunity to learn something new, meet new people and engage in your community.
Our libraries also hold many regular programs, clubs and groups for all ages and interests. From Story Time and Rhyme Time for little ones to book clubs, craft groups and tech help for adults, there’s something for everyone. Mastering Facebook Marketplace

Join us for a beginner friendly introduction to how to buy, sell and swap locally using Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace and ‘buy nothing’ groups.

Community Session – Let’s Talk About Death

Death is the one thing we all have in common, yet it remains the conversation most of us avoid.
Join Samantha, psychotherapist, former hospice psychologist and death educator, for an engaging and surprisingly enjoyable look at why we struggle to talk about death and what happens when we finally do.

Family History – An Introduction to DNA

Have you ever wondered where in the world your family comes from? Join our genetic genealogist as you learn how to use DNA testing to discover your family’s roots. Discovery Session – Introduction to AI

Discovery Session –Noongar Language Workshop
Wednesday 24 June, 6-7pm | Whitford Library
Learn Noongar words and phrases in a fun and welcoming setting. Led by qualified Noongar educators from Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation, this introductory workshop offers a practical and empowering way to connect with local language and culture. No prior knowledge required.

Botanical Watercolour Workshop
Saturday 27 June, 9:30am-midday | Duncraig Library
Learn to draw and paint with Tania Daymond qualified art teacher and practising mixed media artist. Tania loves sharing the creative process with everyone. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a pencil or brush before, just come along to enjoy a creative safe zone.

Parenting Workshop – Cloth Nappies
Monday 29 June, 9:30-11.30am Woodvale Library
Join Sara from Earthside Eco Bums for a friendly, practical session that takes the mystery out of modern cloth nappies. See cloth nappies in action and feel confident making the switch, while also understanding the health and environmental benefits.

Discovery Session – Henna Workshop
Tuesday 30 June, 6-8pm | Joondalup Library
Join us for an introduction to the art and culture of henna body art. The workshop encourages hands on creativity, mindfulness and self-expression while creating a meaningful shared experience rooted in cultural appreciation. The henna cone is 100% natural and hand made and participants get to keep all materials from the workshop.

Regular children’s programs
At Joondalup Libraries, we believe every story is a seed that helps little minds grow. Our regular children’s programs, like Story Time and Rhyme Time, create a gentle, welcoming space where families can connect, laugh and learn together. Through songs, rhymes and delightful tales, we nurture early literacy skills and spark a lifelong love of reading and language. These moments aren’t just fun; they’re building blocks for your child’s future.

Books on Wheels
For residents who are unable to visit the library due to health or mobility challenges, Joondalup Libraries offer a free, fortnightly home delivery service designed to keep the joy of reading and viewing within easy reach.
Friendly library staff select items based on your interests and deliver them straight to your door. The collection includes:
• novels and non-fiction books
• large print books
• audiobooks
• magazines
• DVDs
• downloadable eBooks and audiobooks
• books in languages other than English.

All City of Joondalup libraries also hold regular free programs, clubs and groups, including story time events for children, craft groups, art groups, book clubs and games groups for people of all ages.
