In 2023, city leadership kicked off a bold plan to significantly improve several aquatic and recreational facilities. Within four years, the city will have state-of-the-art facilities, amenities, and Irving’s first multi-generational, mixed-use recreation and aquatics community center.
City Council authorized a funding strategy that will not impact the tax rate while still fully funding existing capital improvement projects, such as park enhancements, road reconstruction, drainage improvements and water/wastewater upgrades. Project funding is primarily comprised of voter-approved recreation and senior center bond funds and non-bond capital improvement program allocations.
The new Lee Park Pool is in the final stages of construction, featuring a new waterslide and a variety of other enhancements. The revamped facility is scheduled to open in May, just in time for summer fun.
Available between June 7 to August 30 Saturdays, 1 to 3 p.m. | $175 Residents*
*Current IPAR Card Required
Rental includes 15 admission tickets to the pool. Additional tickets can be purchased for $3 per child (ages 4-17) and $4 per adult. The room has a maximum capacity of 30 people. Guests may bring their own food, cake and drinks — glass items are not permitted.
For more information, call (972) 721-2508.
On Feb. 24, city leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of a state-of-the-art indoor aquatics facility at Senter Park Recreation Center. Moments later, construction crews began demolishing and clearing the 70-year-old outdoor pool to make way for the new building. During construction, course offerings at Senter Park Recreation Center will be limited.
As part of the project, the tennis court will be relocated to Senter Park East. However, residents will still have access to other park amenities, including the playground, picnic tables and shelters. The new aquatic center is expected to be completed Summer 2026.
