Goals for Conflans Water & Wastewater Project • • • • • •

Priority replacements for Water Utilities Department.

Replace ±6,900 LF of 6”-12” cast iron water line installed in 1956.

Replace ±5,700 LF of 6”-8” clay wastewater lines installed in 1956.

Improve water and wastewater service for 128 residential lots.

Improve water quality and increase the number of fire hydrants.

Reconstruct ±2,700 LF of streets with Irving’s Road to the Future budget.

• Reduce stormwater ponding within street where possible.

• This project does not address major drainage improvements. This will be done with the upcoming MDU Project.

Upcoming Municipal Drainage Utility (MDU) Project • MDU project for West Irving Creek is in beginning stage.

• City currently preparing consultant contract for West Irving Creek.

• Freese & Nichols to perform drainage study and detailed design for West Irving Creek from outfall (±1,000 ft south of W. Oakdale Road) to north side of Wyche Park (W. Pioneer Drive and W. Grauwyler Road).

• Reconstruction of West Irving Creek channel to occur in four phases over the next 10 to 15 years: – – – –

Phase 1: Outfall to Rogers Road (west end Markwood Park) Phase 2: Rogers Road to W. 5TH St. at Wanda Drive Phase 3: W. 5TH St. at Wanda Drive to Story Road Phase 4: Story Road to Wyche Park (includes Sherwood Forest)

Impact to Trees Within City ROW • Project goal is to protect as many trees as possible.

• Contractor will prune all tree canopies in the work zone at the beginning of the project.

• Trees located between existing sidewalk and road will be removed in areas where street and sidewalk reconstruction will occur (light pink shaded areas on Location Map).

Typical Construction Sequence • Contractor sets construction sequence/schedule and city will provide same to HOA/residents as requested at the start of project.

• Landscape and bore subcontractors likely to be the first to start work.

• Contractor anticipates to install deeper wastewater main first.

• Contractor will install water main when wastewater work is finished.

• Contract completion time is aggressive; multiple pipe crews anticipated to be active at the same time but likely not on the same street.

• After successful completion of all testing, final pavement restoration begins.

• Complete street reconstruction will be performed one half at a time.

• Driveway reconstruction will follow after new street is installed.

• Sidewalk reconstruction begins after street and driveway work completed.

• Irrigation repairs, sod replacement and final cleanup will be last.

Access To Property During Construction • Contractor is required to provide access at all times during construction • However, access may be intermittent during work hours, depending on location of crews and pavement reconstruction.

• Effective communication between residents and Engineering Inspector is critical for project success.

• Construction activities will be stressful and messy.

• Residents asked to communicate early and often.

• The City of Irving thanks all residents for their patience during this project.

The city will mail all residents in the work zone a start of construction notification letter approximately two weeks prior to issuing the contractor a notice to proceed with construction.

This letter will contain contact info for the assigned Engineering Inspector. Please keep this letter on your fridge to communicate with the city about your concerns during construction.
