MML Annual Conference
How did the travel apply to the job?
Attended the Missouri Municipal League Annual Conference to enhance professional knowledge of emerging municipal issues, evaluate innovative solutions from over 130 vendors, and network with peers across the state. Participated in the annual business meeting to represent my city's interests and stay actively involved in statewide municipal policymaking
How did training add value to the city?
I attended this year's conference for the first time to receive a plaque for completing the Municipal Governance Institute 12 hour program. During this conference I was able to take advancement courses to further educate myself on Missouri laws and regulations.

I handle legislative affairs for the City of Independence. I met with various lawmakers in advance of next session to promote issues important to the City of Independence.
How did training add value to the city?
I met with Senators Hough & Nicola as well as Representatives Beck, Crossley, Jobe, Steinmeyer & Strickler to discuss issues of importance to the City of Independence.
General comments:
Legislators responded positively to the issues that were raised and we anticipate they will be of assistance to the City of Independence next session.

Purpose
To attend the Missouri Show Me Summit on Aging. The Show Me Summit on Aging & Health is an annual conference provided by MA4, the association for Missouri's Area Agencies on Aging. The conference provides valuable information and continuing education for working with older adults which is beneficial in my position at The Palmer Center.
How did the travel apply to the job?
The Missouri Summit on Aging is organized by the statewide association for Missouri's Area Agencies on Aging and provides valuable information related to working with older adults. It also provides the opportunity to share ideas with and network with staff from other senior centers, Area Agencies on Aging, and organizations who work with older adults.
How did training add value to the city?
Information and ideas from the conference can be used in programming and services offered by The Palmer Center. Continuing education received during the conference helps meet requirements for MARC who provides funding for The Palmer Center.
General comments:
Thank you for the opportunity to attend the Summit on Aging. It was an excellent conference and feel that it was beneficial to attend.
