Attending the 2025 CSTE Annual Conference to strengthen staff's knowledge in disease surveillance and epidemiology, as well as best practices in informatics, infectious diseases, substance use, immunizations, environmental health, occupational health, chronic disease, injury control, and maternal child health in order to address these topics in Independence.

How did the travel apply to the job?

This travel was for the CSTE 2025 annual conference where public health epidemiologists meet to share expertise in surveillance, expertise, and best practices. The conference was attended by the Independence Health and Animal Services Epidemiologist.

How did training add value to the city?

City staff gained knowledge in areas of epidemiology including informatics, infectious diseases, substance use, immunizations, environmental health, occupational health, chronic disease, injury control, and maternal and child health.
