A PROMISE FULFILLED

Dear Friends,

HOPE IS HERE! On behalf of City of Hope, we would like to welcome you to City of Hope Lennar Foundation Cancer Center. We are delivering on our promise to the people of Orange County and changing cancer care for our family, friends and neighbors.

This center is the most advanced comprehensive cancer center in Orange County. Inside these walls, nurses and staff, physician-scientists and researchers care for patients and their families mind, body and spirit. They continue a City of Hope legacy of compassionate care. As our own Dr. Steve Forman says, when a patient comes to City of Hope, we take their hand and never let go.

It’s here that some of the best minds in the world are making breakthrough discoveries that move us closer to ending cancer once and for all. Our cancer center offers patients a fully integrated, multidisciplinary care experience in one location designed around their unique needs. Our patients benefit from programs and services previously unavailable in the region.

Thank you to everyone who supports our lifesaving mission. We are especially grateful for the generosity and shared vision of Lennar Foundation, the charitable arm of Lennar Corporation.

Please join us in celebrating a new era of care for our community. In our state-ofthe-art center, advanced levels of science and research will flourish, and discoveries will quickly lead to cures.

Hope is truly here in Orange County.

OUR PATIENTS ARE CALLING US

8

City of Hope is here in Orange County to answer the call of our patients.

Nearly 20% of residents with cancer have left the area for advanced care, with many heading to City of Hope’s campus in Duarte, California — an up to two-hour commute each way. In addition, the cancer incidence rate in the county is projected to increase by 18% over the next decade.

Cancer risk increases with age and Orange County has a higher percentage of seniors than the U.S. average.

Patients can now access our network of advanced care at four regional clinics — two in Newport Beach, one in Huntington Beach and one in Irvine. The cancer center, the regional clinics and the planned hospital will create Orange County’s largest network exclusively dedicated to cancer treatment, research and cures.

OUR GRATEFUL COMMUNITY

City of Hope gave me my life back.
Donna McNutt 10
“ ”

We are honored to be in the position to support City of Hope, which is saving lives and expanding access to its advanced cancer care.

I went from a provider where I felt like I didn’t matter to City of Hope, where they said, ‘We’re here to save you.’

City of Hope treated me as a person. I wasn’t just a patient, a chart. I mattered.

I would like everyone to know what a world-class facility we are now fortunate to have in Orange County.

City of Hope promised to hold my hand and never let go, and they have kept that promise. I feel like I’m forever part of a special family — the City of Hope family.

The care I received was exceptional. Having City of Hope in Orange County changes everything for people with cancer.

BUILT FOR AND WITH THE COMMUNITY

12

City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center was intentionally designed to be a place that would bring nature’s beauty, comfort and healing indoors — and feel much more like a home than a hospital. Natural products such as wood and stone can be found throughout the four-story cancer center. Creative design elements and furniture in soothing colors of nature provide comfortable places to relax or unwind on each floor. Two art galleries celebrate the human spirit through brilliant expressions of resilience and beauty. A permanent gallery contains 60 unique pieces from artists across the country; a second gallery, with new pieces rotating in every six to nine months, features 80 original pieces by Orange County artists who offer stunning glimpses of Orange County and more. The cancer center, which also features a healing garden, was built with cultural sensitivities, including Feng Shui design, use of metallic colors, and multilanguage navigation and translation capabilities.

13

Construction worker Adam Apodaca honored his mother with this poignant tribute. It captures the sentiment of all who worked on the cancer center. This message was cut out of the sheet rock and is permanently displayed on the first floor of City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center.

These innovations have demonstrated improved outcomes and a better quality of life for patients in treatment.

Precision medicine | Best-in-class genomic testing to profile a patient’s tumor and determine the treatment that will be most effective for their cancer.

Screening and diagnostic services | A suite of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and procedural suites, giving patients convenient access to mammography, colonoscopy, robotic bronchoscopy and other lifesaving services.

A GIFT OF HOPE

The opening of City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center marks a significant milestone in improving health care in the region. The transformational $50 million gift from Lennar Foundation — the charitable arm of homebuilder Lennar Corporation — was pivotal to bringing City of Hope’s best-in-class care and pioneering breakthroughs to Orange County residents. We remain profoundly grateful to the foundation and to the many other donors who have given generously to City of Hope Orange County.

Since then many others have come forward to lend their support, including longtime City of Hope benefactors Julia and George Argyros and their family, who generously committed $25 million to advance our lifesaving work in the community. We remain profoundly grateful to the Lennar Foundation, the Argyros family, and the many other donors who have given to City of Hope Orange County.

City of Hope has always been privileged to have visionary volunteers and donors from around the globe who fuel our commitment to transforming the future of health and eradicating cancer. More than 15,000 of these supporters live in Orange County, and they inspire us as we continue to implement our bold plans for City of Hope Orange County — which includes the county’s only specialty cancer hospital. The hospital will be seamlessly connected to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, transforming the comprehensive cancer campus into a hybrid model of acute and ambulatory care under one roof.

We invite grateful patients, family members, friends and supporters to help us speed the latest advances to our community.
