The first phase of our comprehensive cancer care network opened at City of Hope Newport Beach in January of 2020, our cancer center is under construction and our specialty hospital is in the final stages of design.

BRINGING THE OC VISION TO LIFE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM ROBERT W. STONE President and CEO, City of Hope Robert Stone is a seasoned health care executive, having served in a number of strategic decision-making roles since he joined City of Hope in 1996, culminating with his appointment as president in 2012 and CEO in 2014. His strategic acumen, empathy and visionary leadership have driven City of Hope’s rapid evolution. He was recently named Hospital CEO of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal and has been listed in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Top 500 for five years. He was elected to the Healthcare Leadership Council, a nationwide policy advocacy organization, in 2017.

ANNETTE M. WALKER, M.H.A. President, City of Hope Orange County Annette Walker is the visionary health care leader behind City of Hope’s comprehensive cancer campus and regional network in Orange County. Prior to joining City of Hope, she served as President of Strategy for Providence St. Joseph Health, where she was instrumental in bringing together two noted health organizations to form the nation’s third largest health system. She is the recipient of numerous health care, leadership and innovation honors. Modern Healthcare magazine recognized her as one of the 100 most influential leaders in U.S. health care and one of the 25 most influential women leaders.

MICHAEL A. CALIGIURI, M.D. President and Physician-in-Chief, City of Hope National Medical Center Michael Caligiuri, M.D., the Deana and Steve Campbell Physician-in-Chief Distinguished Chair, is a world-renowned physician, scientist, builder, innovator and leader. He is dedicated to developing the next generation of leading-edge cancer therapies, rapidly delivering them to patients and ultimately curing the disease. Dr. Caligiuri was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine’s Class of 2018 for his breakthrough discoveries in NK leukemia and cutaneous T cell lymphoma. He also served as a past president of the American Association for Cancer Research, the world’s largest cancer research organization with 40,000 members in 120 countries.

Our journey to build a network of highly specialized cancer care built for and with the Orange County community began in 2018, when we announced our groundbreaking cross-sector partnership with FivePoint Holdings, LLC, Coastal California’s largest developer of mixed-use, master-planned communities.

As planning progressed, City of Hope recognized that the community’s pressing need for highly specialized cancer care and research required an expanded vision.

This vision now includes investing more than $1 billion to develop and operate a regional cancer care network and cancer campus of the future. City of Hope leaders and volunteers are engaging the philanthropic community to help make this vision a reality.

We are transforming an existing 190,000-square-foot building and the surrounding 11 acres into a world-class cancer campus.

Orange County’s only specialty cancer hospital will be built from the ground up and seamlessly connected to the outpatient cancer facility—transforming the comprehensive cancer campus into a hybrid model of acute and ambulatory care under one roof.
