The City of Healdsburg is proud to support the Healdsburg American Legion’s annual Independence Day fireworks show again this year. The show takes place at the Healdsburg High School sports fields at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 4.

A reminder that viewing will be different than in past years as there will be no viewing at the High School sports fields.

In addition, this year we are implementing road closures to provide additional spectator viewing areas and better pedestrian access to viewing locations:

University Avenue at Badger Street to Monte Vista Avenue

Sanns Lane at Harold Lane to University Avenue

The road closures will be in place from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. on July 4. No parking or vehicle traffic will be permitted on these streets during this time.

Special thanks to the Healdsburg Tourism Improvement District Stay Healdsburg for their financial support of this year’s show.

Remember: ALL fireworks are now illegal in Sonoma County, even those branded as “Safe and Sane.”

Have a great Fourth of July weekend!

LET'S PLAY PICKLEBALL!

In 2018 community members approached the City to ask about creating areas for a new sport called “Pickleball.” In response, our Community Services Team put temporary pickleball lines on the floor of the Multi-Purpose Room at the Community Center and purchased a moveable pickleball net for indoor play during the winter months. It was a huge success, so shortly after we added pickleball court lines to the tennis courts at Giorgi Park

This week we completed a collaborative project with Healdsburg Unified School District to convert two under-utilized sports courts at the Healdsburg High School tennis complex into dedicated pickleball courts. These courts will be used by High School physical education classes during the school year, and when not in use by the School District, available to community members through a monitored use program during school hours, and open to the public when school is not in session.

We are grateful to be able to collaborate with the School District and community members on worthwhile projects like this. For more information on pickleball, including how to schedule play times at the new High School pickleball courts, please click here.

ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN

The City of Healdsburg is seeking qualified applicants for the Healdsburg Active Transportation Plan (ATP) Advisory Committee.

The Advisory Committee will play a pivotal role in forming the City’s Active Transportation Plan, and will work to create a roadmap to enhance biking and walking as viable modes of transportation.

The plan’s main objectives include enhancing safety and mobility for non-motorized users, promoting public health, and implementing various projects to benefit different types of non-motorized users.

In addition to the Advisory Committee, there will be other opportunities for public involvement, such as through community meetings, workshops, and focus groups.
