ON THE COVER FOLEY FAMILY COMMUNITY PAVILION GROUNDBREAKING On Tuesday, the City of Healdsburg broke ground on the Foley Family Community Pavilion located at 3 North Street, moving the project from planning into construction. The Foley Family Community Pavilion will be the permanent home of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market, add public restrooms to the downtown core, include a rainwater capture system and will serve as a community event space! This project would not have been possible without the generous support from the Foley Family Charitable Foundation. Construction is anticipated to take 12-15 months to complete. We can’t wait to see you at the ribbon cutting next year!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Join us in celebrating Black History Month! The month of February celebrates, honors and recognizes, Black History, achievements and contributions to our Nation’s collective story. Black History is American History. On Monday, February 5, City Council issued a Proclamation recognizing February 2024 as Black History Month in the City of Healdsburg.

JOIN US for the second annual Lunar New Year Celebration, commemorating the Year of the Dragon on Saturday, February 17th from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the Healdsburg Plaza. The event begins with a participatory Tai Chi demonstration from the Redwood Empire Chinese Association, followed by live music, cultural dances, guest speakers, food vendors, and more! HEALDSBURG EARNS PROHOUSING DESIGNATION

In a significant stride toward addressing the challenge of housing affordability, the City of Healdsburg has been designated as a Prohousing Community by the State of California. This week, Healdsburg joined the ranks of six other communities - Eureka, Mountain View, Petaluma, San Luis Obispo, Santa Monica, and the County of Tulare - in receiving this recognition. The Prohousing designation is an honor bestowed by the State of California on communities demonstrating innovative and effective strategies in housing development. This accolade is awarded to cities and counties actively working to reduce barriers to housing construction, supporting diverse housing options for all income levels, and implementing policies that accelerate housing production. Housing Director Stephen Sotomayor remarked, “This designation not only highlights our efforts in streamlining housing approvals but also recognizes our initiatives in developing affordable housing for the residents of our community. It's a clear indication of our progress in making Healdsburg a place where affordable housing is a reality, not just something we talk about.”

Healdsburg has enacted key housing initiatives to enhance affordability and accessibility. These initiatives include streamlining development processes, promoting the creation of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and forming partnerships with developers to create new affordable housing projects. These efforts are supported by Measure S, a dedicated funding source created by allocating two percent of the City’s transient occupancy tax specifically to affordable housing. As a Prohousing community, Healdsburg will now receive priority access to state funding for housing projects. This advantage underscores the city's dedication to cultivating a vibrant and sustainable housing environment.

COMMUNITY BUDGET WORKSHOP join the conversation

Healdsburg Senior Center February 28, 2024 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Join City Staff for a presentation on the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 & 2025-2026 city budgets and give us your feedback on how the City should allocate funds for the next two fiscal years. Spanish interpretation and activities for kids will be available.

HEALDSBURG IS NOW A LEAGUE OF AMERICAN BICYCLISTS RECOGNIZED BRONZE BICYCLE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY (BFC)! Healdsburg is now a League of American Bicyclists recognized Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC)!
