Join us in celebrating Black History Month!
The month of February celebrates, honors and recognizes, Black History, achievements and contributions to our Nation’s collective story. Black History is American History. On Monday, February 3, the City Council issued a Proclamation recognizing February 2025 as Black History Month in the City of Healdsburg.
Smith Robinson (1907-1963) was known as Healdsburg’s “Ambassador of Goodwill.” Among many other accomplishments, Robinson was admired for his efforts to support local troops serving overseas in WWII.
On February 18, 2025, the City Council held its third public hearing to review 78 draft maps submitted by the public, along with 3 maps prepared by Redistricting Partners. The City received 12 maps with 6 Districts, 39 maps with 5 districts, 26 maps with 4 districts and 1 map with 1 district. After deliberation, the Council elected to focus on four draft maps that are each comprised of five districts. Community members may view all the maps, community of interest forms and public comment submitted to date by visiting healdsburg.gov/districtelections.
Members of the public are still encouraged to submit maps and community of interest forms for consideration at the fourth public hearing, scheduled for March 17, 2025.
The deadline for submitting maps for this meeting is 5:00 p.m. on March 9, 2025. Submitted maps will be published on March 10, 2025, in accordance with the sevenday publication deadline. For additional information please visit healdsburg.gov/districtelections

Marie Sparks was a woman who embodied the generous and unselfish spirit of volunteerism in Healdsburg. Upon her death in 1995, the Healdsburg City Council wished to remember Marie’s giving and unselfish spirit with the annual Marie Sparks Memorial Volunteer Award.
The City of Healdsburg is actively seeking nominations for the 2024 Marie Sparks Volunteer of the Year Award. Nominees need to volunteer their time in Healdsburg and reside within the Healdsburg 95448 zip code. If you know of an outstanding volunteer, now is the time to recognize them. The nominees will be reviewed and selected in early March. Recipients will be honored at the City Council Meeting on Monday, April 7th at 6:00 pm.
