Tocelebratethisremarkable milestone,theFortBraggCity CouncilrecentlyhonoredEggheads Restaurantforits50thanniversary, recognizingtheParrishfamily’s long‑standingdedication, communityspirit,andenduring contributiontotheheartof downtown.
Eggheads’iconicWizardofOzthemehasbeenpartofitscharmalmostsincethebeginning, fromwhimsicalEmeraldCitydécortothefamousbackbathroomwherevisitors“travel”down theYellowBrickRoad.Eventhename“Eggheads”honorsitsoriginsasabreakfastspotand celebratestheideathatgoodfoodandgoodthinkinggohandinhandastheydeclareitisa placewhere“smartpeoplegotoeat”.

For40years,thegalleryhasremainedatruecooperative,managedandstaffedentirelybyits memberartists,whosepassionisreflectedineverchangingdisplaysoftheirwork Ithasfostered community,hostedinspiringsoloandgroupexhibitions,andenrichedtheculturallifeofboth residentsandvisitors.

The City is pleased to announce a new interactive Zoning Map now available on our website Users may input an address or simply click on a parcel of interest to generate a table of information about the parcel, including its Assessors Parcel Number and its zoning designation. Entering a partial address should generate a list of possible address matches to choose from.
The map will zoom in on the selected parcel while the data table is showing. Just hit the ‘X’ to the right of the address selection box to clear the current selection and return to showing all parcels Use the plus or minus buttons in the upper left corner of the map to zoom in and out. Using the “home” button will restore the full map extent.

Beginning the week of April 6, 2026, a specialized survey vehicle will be traveling throughout Fort Bragg as part of a joint effort between the Mendocino Council of Governments (MCOG) and the City of Fort Bragg to assess local road conditions.
This regional project uses an ARRB survey van equipped with advanced lasers and imaging technology. By collecting high-resolution data at normal traffic speeds, the City and MCOG can more accurately prioritize future paving and maintenance projects across the region
What to Expect:
• Location: The van will canvass all city-maintained streets.
• Traffic: No road closures are required; the vehicle will follow standard traffic flow
• Identification: The white van is clearly marked with "Pavement Management Intelligence" and external sensor equipment. This collaborative, data-driven approach ensures that infrastructure funds are used efficiently to improve road quality for all residents

RoryisaproudMendocinoCoastnative,raisedinComptcheandagraduateof MendocinoHighSchool.Inspiredbyhisfather,afirechiefandparamedic,he beganvolunteeringwiththeComptcheVolunteerFireDepartmentat16andwas runningcallsby18.
HejoinedtheCityofFortBraggasaCommunityServiceOfficerin2019,attended theSantaRosaJuniorCollegePoliceAcademyin2021,andhasservedasa policeofficersince.In2025,heearnedhisAssociateofScienceinCriminal Justice.
RoryhascontributedtohisagencyasaPeerSupportandCriticalIncidentStress Debriefingteammember,FirearmsInstructor,FieldTrainingOfficer,andcurrently servesasaSchoolResourceOfficer.
JenniPontsbeganherworkwiththeCareResponseUnit(CRU)inDecember2024as theEmergencyWeatherClerkfortheEmergencyWeatherShelter(EWS)Program.
Shelatertransitionedintoapart-timeroleasaGrantsAnalystsupportingProject RightNowthroughtheYouthOpioidResponse(YOR)initiative.
AsofMarch8,2026,Jennihassteppedintoafull-timepositionwithCRUasaSocial ServicesLiaisonunderProjectRightNow.Inthisrole,sheworksprimarilywithyoung adultsages18–24,helpingconnectthemtocriticalresourcesandsubstanceuse treatmentservices.Drawingonherprofessionalbackgroundinstaffingand workforcedevelopment,Jennialsosupportsparticipantsinidentifyingcareer pathways,buildingjobreadinessskills,andsecuringmeaningfulemployment opportunities.
EXTREMEWEATHERSHELTER
TheExtremeWeatherShelter(EWS)ProgramisapartnershipbetweentheMendocinoCoast HospitalityCenterandtheCityofFortBragg,providingoverflowshelterwhenlocalfacilitiesreach capacity.Throughthiscollaboration,theCitycontractswithalocalmoteltoissueone-night vouchers,offeringsafe,temporarysheltertounhousedcommunitymembersduringperiodsof increasedneed.
Duringthe2025/2026season,theEWSoperatedfor39nights,serving71uniqueindividualsand providing233hotelroomplacements.Servicelevelsintheprior2024/2025seasonwere significantlyhigherduetoanatmosphericrivereventassociatedwithElNiño,whichbrought extendedperiodsofheavyrainfall,floodingrisk,andcoldertemperaturestotheFortBraggarea.In contrast,the2025/2026seasonsawmilderweatherconditions,resultinginfewerprogram activationsandreducedmotelusage.Thisreflectsadecreaseinweather-drivendemand—nota reductioninprogramcapacity witha53%decreaseinnightsopenanda64%decreaseinhotel roomplacementscomparedtothepreviousseason.InMarch,theprogramwasactivatedforonly onenightduetocontinuedwarm,dryweatherconditions.
Tomaximizeremainingfundsfromthe2024/2025season,theCareResponseUnitimplementeda volunteer-supportedmodelforweekendoperations.FollowingonboardingandtraininginmidJanuary,volunteerscontributed8hoursofserviceacrossthreeprogramdays Thisefforthelped reducestaffovertimecostsby$402.60whilemaintainingprogramoperations.
TheVolunteerAttendanceRecoveryProgram,developedbyProjectRightNow,isanewinitiative designedtogivestudentsameaningfulandsupportivewaytomakeupmissedschooltime throughstructuredvolunteerworkwhilehelpingtheircommunityout.Asanorganizationfocused onservingat-riskyouthages15–25,ProjectRightNowiscommittedtomeetingtheuniqueneedsof students.Thisprogramalignsdirectlywiththatmissionbyofferingaflexible,engagingpathwayfor studentstorecoverabsenceswhilestayingconnectedtotheireducation.Throughapproved communityserviceopportunitiesandmentorship,studentscanbuildresponsibility,strengthen time-managementskills,andworktowardmeetingtheirhighschoolcommunityservice graduationrequirements,allwhilereceivingguidancethroughcasemanagementsupport.
Sofar,theprogramhasreceivedoverwhelminglypositivefeedbackfrombothschoolsand students,demonstratingitsstrongimpactandpromise.Ourgoalistofostermeaningful connectionsbetweenstudentsandthecommunity,helpingthembuildhealthyrelationshipsand connectwithfuturementorsandemployers.WearecurrentlypartneringwiththeFortBraggFood Bank,andwewouldliketosincerelythankthemforwelcomingProjectRightNowstaffand participatingstudentswithopenarms.Lookingahead,weplantoexpandtheprogramby collaboratingwithadditionalcommunitypartners,givingstudentstheopportunitytoexplore differentpartsofthecommunityanddiscoverpathwaysthatalignwiththeirinterestsand passions.
