APPROVED TAX RATE AND BUDGET
Forney City Council approved the FY 2027 budget, which begins October 1, 2026, and adopted an ad valorem tax rate of $0.441281, the City’s No New Revenue rate. This rate is designed to generate approximately the same property tax revenue from existing properties as the previous year. The structurally balanced budget does not use reserves to fund operations and includes several new positions, including an Assistant Chief of Police, Fire Training Chief and seven additional police officers funded through the CCPD. KAUFMAN COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY
Forney City Council approved an agreement with the Kaufman County Housing Authority to support affordable housing and housing-related activities within the City of Forney. The partnership will give the City a greater role in coordinating housing programs already operating within the community, with increased local involvement in housing needs, development, zoning and infrastructure.
FIRE DEPARTMENT COST RECOVERY PROGRAM
Forney City Council approved an ordinance establishing a Fire Department Cost Recovery Program. The program allows the Forney Fire Department to recover eligible costs for the use of fire apparatus and equipment during motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, and other emergency incidents. Claims will be submitted directly to applicable insurance companies by a thirdparty provider, and residents, property owners, and drivers will not be billed if insurance does not cover the costs. Revenue collected will support the purchase and replacement of Fire Department equipment.
MEET AND CONFER AGREEMENTS APPROVED
Forney City Council approved Meet and Confer Agreements with the Forney Professional Firefighters’ Association and Forney Police Association for Fiscal Year 2027. Effective October 1, 2026, the agreements include updates to compensation, recruitment, hiring, promotional processes and other employment provisions. Both agreements were ratified by their respective associations before receiving final approval from City Council.
