COUNCIL WRAP UP NOVEMBER 3, 2026

COUNCIL APPROVES QUARTERLY INVESTMENT REPORT

During its November 3 meeting, the Forney City Council approved the City's quarterly investment report for the period ending September 30, 2026. The report provides an overview of the City's investments, including their performance and earnings, and helps ensure transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.

COUNCIL ACCEPTS GAIL WILSON WAY EXTENSION IMPROVEMENTS

The Forney City Council approved the acceptance of public improvements for the FISD Gail Wilson Way Extension Project. Located along the north side of FM 740 near Hillside Drive, the project includes approximately 1,170 feet of new roadway connecting to the roundabout at Innovation Boulevard, along with storm sewer, water line, and sidewalk improvements. With construction complete and all outstanding items addressed, the City has formally accepted the improvements, marking the completion of the project.

13.6-ACRE ANNEXATION INTO MUNICIPAL MANAGEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1 City Council approved the addition of approximately 13.6 acres along Gateway Boulevard North, north of Concord Drive, into Forney Municipal Management District No. 1. The property is anticipated to support future commercial and/or residential development, with the district responsible for providing necessary water, wastewater, drainage, and road infrastructure. The approval establishes conditions for future development and district bond issuances. The annexation does not change the property's zoning or make the City responsible for the district's financial obligations.

ROAD BOND ISSUANCE FOR VILLAGE AT GATEWAY IMPROVEMENTS The Forney City Council approved the issuance of up to $3.65 million in bonds by Forney Municipal Management District No. 1 to help finance previously completed road improvements serving the Village at Gateway development. This financing allows the district to reimburse eligible infrastructure costs, with repayment funded through property taxes collected within the district rather than City funds.

The next council meeting will be on November 17. More information at forneytx.gov/meetings
