Evanston Economic Development: 2013 Year-in-Review

2013 at-a-glance:

Evanston had a notable and exciting year! It seemed as though every month, a new business opened, an existing business expanded or we were celebrating a major anniversary. More than 70 businesses chose call Evanston home this past year. From the new coffee shops and fitness studios to the long awaited opening of Trader Joe’s, this was an exciting year. By December, the City’s unemployment rate also dropped to 6.3%, the lowest rate all of 2013.

New Conference Center at the Heartwood Center , 1818 Dempster Street

The Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program also had another successful year, employing over 300 Evanston youth. This was a 46% increase from 2012.
