Adapting & innovating for the new year
We’ve heard you say it. Heck, we’ve said it. 2020 has just been the worst.
Well, you can forgive us for lapsing during the tougher moments, but we really don’t believe that. 2020 has been difficult, sure, but we here at Eugene Rec are usually optimistic about the future. We want to make the best of every situation. So when 2020 gave us a global pandemic in the spring we took a moment to gather ourselves and then dove headlong into the work that needed to be done to keep providing our community with the programming and services they have come to rely on us for.
Then in September, when the wildfires brought smoke and heartache to our community, our staff once again rose to the challenge, marshaling forces to help drive evacuees to safe care centers and opening our doors for smoke respite and donation drop off. Helping people is just what we do.
This difficult year has challenged all of us but it has also given us new insight into what matters most, and we have doubled down on providing opportunities for us to connect with you. We are offering even more virtual classes and finding creative ways for our beloved classes to go on, even as the weather drives all of us indoors where we have to limit gathering sizes. We’ll make do, we always have.
But if you truly are looking forward to 2021 for a reset, you can bet we have something to give you the fresh start you’re needing. We still have great fitness classes and opportunities to learn a new language or learn a new craft. We are still offering programming for youth and ways for all of us to get outside. Oh, and we will be unveiling renovations at two of our facilities that we’re thrilled about.
As 2020 closes we are grateful for an opportunity to reflect and reset. COVID-19 won’t magically be gone on Jan. 1, so the work continues, but we’ll be right there with you, every step of the way.
