Military Street Banner Program
Since the City of Elk Grove’s founding, our residents have had a proud tradition of military service. And Elk Grove’s tradition of honoring those who have served is just as proud! One of the most visible honors is the Military Street Banner Program. These banners are proudly hung on streetlights along Elk Grove Boulevard and Civic Center Drive (between Big Horn Boulevard and Laguna Springs Drive). Displayed for one year, the banners feature retired or honorably discharged members of the United States Armed Forces residing in Elk Grove or those who resided in Elk Grove and are now deceased. Businesses or individuals may sponsor a military street banner for a $150 fee. Applications are accepted year round, but in order for a banner application to be considered for the next installment, all documentation must be submitted by September 20.

Piercing the Shadow on Domestic Violence Innovative Elk Grove Resources Help Victims Escape Violent Environments
Because the causes of domestic violence come from many different places, the solutions must come from many places, as well. Using a federal grant, Elk Grove has developed a multifaceted approach to helping victims of domestic violence. This approach includes specialized training on domestic violence for police officers, as well October is Domestic Violence as funding for a full-time member of the Elk Awareness Month Grove Police Department’s Family Services Unit, whose focus is advocating for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Through this grant, the City is able to provide crisis counseling, case management, accompaniment, and community resources for victims during their recovery. All of this is done in partnership with WEAVE, a Sacramentobased nonprofit that provides support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking.
