Citizen input is vital to how our city operates. Nearly 100 volunteers serve on committees and commissions to advise the City on issues as well as contribute ideas to help make our city a great place to live, work, and play. Let’s take a look at our Trails Committee: O • G ET M

Trails Committee members appointed by the Mayor (with approval of the City Council) include from left to right, Mark Doty (Vice Chair), Sharon Anderson, Mark Mendenhall (Chair), Deana Donohue, and Erika Smith.

Happy Trails to You

Volunteers help lead efforts to protect, enhance, and expand this amazing resource

Meetings held 3rd Monday of each month 6 p.m. City Hall

Fully integrated with Elk Grove’s network of bike lanes, Elk Grove’s 28 additional miles of trails take you through open spaces, greenbelts, creekways, and wildlife habitat while also connecting you to award-winning parks, schools, neighborhoods, and retail centers. Our five-member Trails Committee provides high-level advice to the City Council and staff on the many different issues affecting the trail system. The main way the committee provides its input is by being a “trails-focused” voice in a variety of different proceedings. A few examples include: • Reviewing plans and projects for their impact on the trail system • Providing advice to the City Council on priorities for future trail and bikeway initiatives • Serving as a liaison between the city and developers on how best to incorporate trail elements into their projects For more information, visit elkgrovecity.org and click on the Commissions and Committees link under the City Hall tab.
