Meet Elk Grove’s New City Manager, Jason Behrmann Under Elk Grove’s form of government, the City Manager oversees the day to day operations of the City and implements policy direction and goals of our elected City Council. As proven during a nationwide search, Jason Behrmann’s wealth of experience makes him uniquely suited for the role of Elk Grove City Manager. His 20-plus year career in municipal government has been marked by success in a series of roles with increasing responsibility. After completing his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University and earning his master’s at Indiana University, Behrmann started his public sector career at the City of Dublin, CA as a Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office. He continued working his way up through the ranks at several municipalities until landing the position of City Manager in Galt. After six years in that position, he answered the call to become Elk Grove’s Assistant City Manager in 2015. Behrmann stepped up to be the Interim City Manager in May 2018, but this was no guarantee that he would get the permanent City Manager position. To find the best candidate for the job, the City Council conducted a nationwide search. Dozens of wellqualified applications were winnowed down to six finalists. On January 9, the City Council unanimously appointed Jason Behrmann as Elk Grove’s new City Manager. Jason is committed to serving the Elk Grove community with integrity, honesty, professionalism, and fairness. He supports the high standards of service already set at City Hall and plans to foster new standards for transparency and inclusiveness, as well as embrace new ideas and ways of doing business while being a good steward of taxpayer dollars. His experience in city leadership, coupled with his proven track record of change and innovation will be a valuable addition to the management and development of the City of Elk Grove. Behrmann is a Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and is committed to the principles of professional management with the goal of improving the quality of life of all residents. Look for him at Elk Grove events and meetings. He can be reached at City Hall at jbehrmann@elkgrovecity.org.
