Bringing Color to the Community: The Annie Peony Gallery’s Fence Mural
Annie Peony is a talented local artist with a passion for community beautification. Ms. Peony has transformed a once plain, weathered fence that separates her gallery from Journey Church into a vibrant mural that reflects California’s natural beauty. Located at 9635 Elk Grove-Florin Road, the Annie Peony Gallery has expanded the presence of public art in Elk Grove.
• Second Place: $300 • Third Place: $100
This opportunity is open to all current high school students who live in Elk Grove. Submit your entry online by March 30 at elkgrovecity.org/budget.
Ms. Peony’s creative vision for the fence mural celebrates California’s fruitful fields, flowing rivers, and lush mountains. Working closely with the congregation at Journey Church, she mapped out a detailed design, assigning each fence section a color-coded number. Over five weeks, church members of all ages joined in, following her “paint by numbers” outline to bring the mural to life. This collaborative effort between Ms. Peony and Journey Church has resulted in a stunning landscape mural that enriches the local community, showcasing how art can transform and unite. Stop by and experience this beautiful piece for yourself!
