Tree Removal in City Parks - Public Works
Public Works will be removing buckthorn and trees infested with emerald ash borer (EAB) from city parks in the upcoming weeks. Staff will begin the removal of ash trees impacted by EAB in Central and Riverfront Park, before moving to other park spaces. Additional notice will be provided before performing work in the residential park areas.

The emerald ash borer is a highly destructive insect pest that targets all types of North American ash trees. Please note that the City cannot remove infected trees on private property. Residents are encouraged to contact a tree service for a quote to remove or treat infested trees. Citizen Academy 2024 - Registration Now Open!
Delano’s Citizen Academy will be every Thursday from April 4-May 9 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Participants will engage with City staff and officials in a variety of settings, ask questions, tour City facilities and learn about the services and functions of a growing community. This is a great starting point for future civic involvement and service!
Delano’s Citizen Academy is a completely free program that is open to the entire public, including non-Delano residents. It’s okay if you can’t commit to each Thursday evening just come when you can!

Presidential Nominating Primary - Mar. 5
The Presidential Nominating Primary is on Tuesday, Mar 5! Voting will take place at Delano City Hall (234 2nd Street North) and polls will be open from 7:00 AM-8:00 PM. In-person early voting will be available during normal business hours, and on Saturday, Mar. 2 from 9:00 AM3:00 PM. For any questions, please contact City Hall or visit our website at www.delanomn.gov/228/Elections. Please note that only residents of Delano may vote at City Hall. Locate your polling place using the Secretary of State's precinct finder: pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us
Notice of Public Hearing - Planning Commission
The Delano Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 PM on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Delano City Hall to consider the draft Delano 2040 Comprehensive Plan which will define the City land use, transportation, utility and service goals, and policies that will direct community development through the year 2040. All interested people are invited to attend the meeting and will be allowed to speak on the applications during the public hearing Written comments will be accepted and can be sent to Delano City Hall, PO Box 108, 234 2nd Street North, Delano MN 55328; or emailed to pbauman@delanomn.gov Comments can also be submitted online using the city website. Spring Load Axle Weight Restrictions

During the spring thaw, State, County, and local agencies enforce axle weight restrictions to protect the infrastructure investment in their roads Wright County weight restrictions started on Monday, Feb 26 at 12:01 AM Weight limits are in place typically for six to eight weeks, but in some years it has been less. The Wright County Highway Department will announce in advance when the restrictions end. Delano city streets have an spring load axle weight restriction between 5-7 tons, depending on the street. Public Works will be putting up temporary signs on city streets.
