Make summer easier with our Extended Care program, a safe and convenient option for families seeking an all-day camp experience or late pick-up. Designed with flexibility in mind, Extended Care ensures your child is supervised and engaged beyond standard camp hours.

Junior Chemical Engineering and 5-8Y Robo-coding

In the morning, we introduce our budding engineers to fundamental concepts of solids, liquids, and solutions. Campers investigate the properties of several “chemicals” while exploring and developing their own crazy concoctions! Unleash your SLIMEmagination and join us for a confidence-boosting week where campers develop the mindset to become bold visionary innovators! In the afternoon, work in pairs to build a variety of robots! Campers learn to program and code their creations to do various tasks, using the computer or tablet. In the morning, join us in an apocalyptic future, one where the earth has been ravaged by a series of natural disasters. Applying engineering principles, campers solve numerous challenges as they make their virtual world of Minecraft a safe place for humanity. In the afternoon, students create and program robots to perform challenges such as the SumoBots, jousting, and a catapult challenge. Students work in pairs using LEGO® Robotics and computers to learn principles of robotics, computer programming, and teamwork. $50 for half day and $100 for full day camp materials fee due on first day of camp.

In the morning camp, campers create up to five new stop-motion movies using a different medium each day! Animate with ducks, a green screen, and film with anime characters! In the afternoon camp, make a Minecraft stop-motion MOVIE with your favorite Minecraft characters! Working in age-appropriate groups, bring Steve, the creepers, and more to life. Students will write, storyboard, create sets out of construction paper, make their Minecraft blocks, film, animate some cool effects, and do voice-overs! Material fee of $70 due on the first day of camp. All day camp includes lunch supervision.

Capitola and Wilder Ranch

Tuesday, June 4, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Begin your day in the delightful seaside town of Capitola. An experienced docent from Capitola Historical Museum will hop aboard our bus to give a narrated tour showcasing the various areas of Capitola. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Capitola village, enjoy a no-host lunch, and browse the cute local stores or soak in the sun at the beach.

In the afternoon, you will visit the historic Wilder Ranch State Park for a private tour to learn about California's early ranching history. Step back in time to the late 1800's and visit an early dairy ranch, complete with an 1897 Victorian home and a water-powered machine shop.

Discover Treasure Island

Wednesday, July 16, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Named after Robert Louis Stevenson's novel, discover Treasure Island and be treated to some of the best views of the San Francisco skyline. You day begins with a visit to Panorama Park which reopened to the public last year for 360-degree views highlighting San Francisco Bay across to the East Bay shoreline. From there, you will hop over to the Treasure Island Museum for a docent led tour and learn of the island's 86-year-old history.

After some free time at the museum, delight in a hosted lunch at Meresa and experience a whiskey tasting at Gold Bar Distillery to finish your afternoon.

Adventures in Oakland

Wednesday, July 30, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

See the USS Potomac, nicknamed the "Floating White House", docked at Jack London square. Famed as President Franklin Roosevelt's historic presidential yacht, you will get to board the ship for a docent led tour to learn of its captivating history, the remarkable ways the ship was used during Roosevelt's presidency, and the ships journey to the West Coast.

For your no-lunch, explore the cafes and restaurants in the charming Piedmont district. This lovely neighborhood is full of eats ranging from Michelin starred restaurants to locally loved Fenton's Creamery. If the food delights are not enough, walk along to pop into some shops or admire the historical architecture.

Your final stop of this adventure is at the Oakland Museum. Located in the heart of Oakland, the museum houses works by California artists, artifacts and photographs documenting the state's history and people, and a vast collection of natural history exhibits.

Wheels in Motion

Wednesday, July 16, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All aboard the Redwood Forest Steam Train! Your first stop is the Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton. Chug along over trestles, through towering redwood groves and up a winding narrow-gauge grade to the summit of Bear Mountain as conductors narrate the history of Roaring Camp, the railroad, and the forest.

After your return to the depot, you will head to the Heavenly Roadside Café for an included lunch. Your final stop is Canepa Motorsports Museum for an afternoon to enjoy an exciting display of racecars and motorcycles from the golden age of automotives to modern times. This museum is car lovers nirvana, showcasing some of the world's finest cars that have raced in Can-Am, NASCAR, Le Mans and Indy.

Caregiver Network Counseling

Wednesday, 1 to 4 p.m.

The Caregivers Network provides friend or family caregivers free support for their unique situations. A Care Manager will be available for one-hour in-person appointments to provide resources and information for caregivers to support loved one.

Caregiver Support Group

Tuesday, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

June 17, July 15, and August 19

Caregiving is tough and you do not have to do it alone. Join other friend and family caregivers to learn about resources, share experiences, and enjoy a social outlet. Lead by the Caregiver Network of Sourcewise, a Santa Clara County resource agency for seniors, the group is for caregivers of adults 60 and older or someone of any age with a dementia type disease (Huntington’s, early onset Alzheimer’s traumatic brain injury, etc.).

Activity Withdrawals

Withdraws must be requested in writing or in-person at least eight calendar days prior to the start of the activity for a full refund.

1-day Classes/Events

Refunds must be requested in writing at least eight calendar days prior to the start of the 1-day class/event.

Activity Cancellations

Activity not reaching required minimum enrollment may be canceled. Participants are notified by phone and given option to transfer to another activity or get a full refund.

50+ Travel

Individual cancellations must be filled from the waitlist before a refund can be issued. For individual cancellations, an administration fee of $10 will be assessed, and the remaining balance will be refunded. A full refund will be issued if a trip is canceled by the Senior Center.

Separate Policies

There are no refunds for Drop-In or Day Passes. Separate policies apply to Preschool and Sports Center Memberships. Please inquire before registering.

Refund Request

Requests must be submitted in writing and must include participant’s name, address, phone number, name and activity number of the class, and reason for withdrawal. Original payments made by credit card are refunded to the credit card and may take up to two weeks to process. Payments made by check or cash are refunded by check and may take up to six weeks to process.

Resident Fee

Activity participants living in Cupertino zip code 95014 are eligible for a resident discount rate. Proof of residency may be requested.

Waitlists

If the class you requested is filled, you may be placed on a waitlist, free of charge. If the class becomes available, we will call you. Payment is due within 24 hours.

Age Requirement

Where an age is indicated, the participant must be that age by the first day of class. Proof of age may be required.

Class Attendance

Class attendance is limited to the registered participants only. Sorry, no children in adult classes and no adults in children's classes.

Make-up Classes

There are no make-ups for classes you don’t attend.

On occasion, a class or activity will be canceled due to weather, instructor availability, or unforeseen emergencies.

If Cupertino Parks and Recreation cancels a class meeting, a refund will be issued, or a make-up class will be offered if the schedule permits.

Class Check-in/Check-out

All children 0-14 years of age must be checked in and out of classes and activities by a parent or guardian. Please come into the classroom and see the instructor to check your child in and out. (408) 777-3120

Declined Credit Card

If your credit card is declined, Cupertino Parks and Recreation staff will contact you to request payment. If your payment is not received within 24 hours, your registration will be canceled.

Returned Check

There will be a service fee for each returned check.

Scholarships

Limited scholarship grants are available for youth recreation programs and classes. Our scholarships program is administered by the West Valley Community Services.
