LEAGUES
FALL SOCCER LEAGUE
Our league aims at providing an opportunity for kids to learn about team work and sportsmanship. Practices are held on weeknights and begin the last week of August. Practice day and time is determined by the volunteer coach. Games are predominantly on Saturdays at Covington Community Park and Kentwood High School. The season kicks off on September 11 and ends October 30. There will be an end of season tournament for grades 1-6. To infuse fresh faces and teams we have partnered with the City of Auburn for grades 5-8. Games will be played at Auburn’s Game Farm Park and Covington Community Park. Registration is open May 11 and closes Sept. 5.
NFL FLAG FOOTBALL POWERED BY USA FOOTBALL & NFLPlay60 Our co-ed league is geared toward providing an opportunity for your child to sharpen skills and broaden their knowledge of football with an emphasis on fun, participation, and sportsmanship.
All players will receive an NFL team jersey and flag belt. Players must provide their own mouth guard and shorts with no pockets. Games are held primarily on Saturday mornings and afternoons with occasional weekday games at Covington Community Park and Kentwood High School.

PRO BASEBALL CAMP PRO BASEBALL CAMP
Do you like working with kids? Are you responsible and fun? Do you have a passion for sports? If you are age 14 or older, you can be a referee! It truly takes a village to run our programs and we need your talents to make it happen. We are looking for referees of all skill levels and for all age groups as well as responsible adults to oversee our facilities as site leads. Sound interesting? Star Parties Sail the Milky Way with local astronomers who will provide star gazing expertise along with access to telescopes, binoculars and star charts. We will explore the Moon, the planets, constellations, stars, clusters and galaxies that each season's night scape presents. These are14 free June 11 - 9 p.m. September - 8events, p.m. however, reservations are required to secure your July 16 - 9 p.m. October 12 - 7 p.m. spot. This youth baseball camp is well suited for all players, from aspiring to elite. Instructor Steve Goucher is a former professional baseball player and Atlanta Braves scout. Steve has over 15 years of experience instructing baseball at all levels. Many of his students have gone on to play college baseball and a few even made it to the big leagues! This is an introductory dance class for 3-4 year olds full of fun, music and moving! Blossoming dancers will have a blast learning the basics of ballet. PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
ADVENTURE PALS (FORMERLY PLAYTIME PALS)
Experience Adventure Pals with your child as we hear a story, do a craft, sing songs and finish with a snack of your choice. Each month will reflect a new theme for our adventures together. Classes remain online via Zoom. Please plan on stopping by the Maple Valley Center each month to do a drive by packet pick up of class supplies. We ask that you have basic art supplies available at your home, such as crayons or markers, a glue stick , tape or stapler. Class will last between 45-60 minutes, depending on the size of the class. Summer Camps CAMP ADVENTURE
FILM CAMPS
CAMP ADVENTURE
Join us for our sixth annual Camp Adventure! Go on a new adventure every day during this 4-day-long summer camp program for 6th-8th graders. Campers will enjoy everything from hiking and climbing, a trip to the zoo and even ziplining, plus a camp t-shirt is included! Drop off and pick up in the Community Room at Covington City Hall. Early drop off begins at 7 a.m. with late pick up until 6 p.m. Campers need to bring a sack lunch each day to camp. Day 1: Monday July 26 - Lake Wilderness Park We will kick off camp with a trip to Lake Wilderness Park. In the morning we have a friendly team challenge competition. Later you can swim, play volleyball, frisbee, paddle board, do some arts and crafts or just relax on the beach. Day 2: Tuesday July 27 - High Trek Adventure Everett We start day two with an outdoor team game of laser tag at High Trek Adventure. After which we enter a vertical world of fun, challenge and excitement. This high adventure ropes course includes over 60 challenge elements and a zip line! We will end the day with a round of miniature golf. Day 3: Wednesday July 28 - Black Diamond Park Try out the 3D Climbing Wall at Black Diamond Camps! We will participate in team challenge games, play gaga ball and eat s'mores! We end our day at Black Diamond Camps with a dip in the pool and some fun team skits. Day 4: Thursday July 29 - Point Defiance Park Tacoma On our last day we head to Tacoma to Point Defiance Park. We will visit the amazing animals at the zoo and aquarium and then cross the Wilson Way pedestrian bridge and slide our way down to the waterfront and explore the Dune Peninsula. Class 32100

CHESS WIZARDS SUMMER CLUB
Say yes to chess! Join Chess Wizards for an interactive, scholastic program where kids will collaborate, gain confidence, improve chess skills, meet new friends, and work out their most powerful muscle – their brains! Appropriate for beginner to intermediate chess players, our program includes instruction in tactics and strategy, as well as individual game play. MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP: MOANA
At the Ridge Theatre is bringing an outdoor musical theatre program for Pre-K to 6th graders this summer. This camp will be held outdoors at Covington Park and will include 15 hours of training, a show t-shirt and mask, snacks and an opportunity to perform in a camp show on Friday, July 9 for week one and Friday, July 16 for week two. Aquatics HOW TO REGISTER
All programs require registration, which can be complete online, over-the-phone, or in-person at the Covington Aquatic Center during our office hours. Please visit www. covingtonwa.gov/cac, or call us at (253) 480-2480.
SOCIALLY DISTANCED SWIMMING All swimming requires pre-registration for 25-minute blocks of time. Reserving two consecutive blocks of time will result in an additional 5-minute of swimming time (normally the transition time between), but no additional discounts will be applied. Please see activity catalogue descriptions on registration site for additional details. LAP SWIMS (per 25-minute block) Lap swimming is available in the deep-end of the pool, with a maximum of two swimmers per lane. Each swimmer is assigned a specific resting wall, and should not stop on the opposite wall or come within six feet of the other swimmer, except to pass. Specific requests cannot be guaranteed, but should be made ahead of time by e-mailing parks@covingtonwa.gov. Individual Pre-registration Fee

PUBLIC SWIMS (per 25-minute block) This activity includes the full pool with a rotation of possible available amenities, including the Magic Carpet, water slide, and diving board. Capacity is strictly limited, and participants must socially distance (at least 6 feet) from those outside their household. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Children under 6 years old must have one adult in their household accompany them in the water for support (at no cost; child is registered participant in the swim, the adult must pre-register as a supporter at the same time to accompany). Individual Pre-registration Fee $5.00; Family Rate $5 for the first swimmer, $2 per swimmer from the same household.
SPECIAL EVENTS AMERICAN RED CROSS ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE The Covington Aquatic Center offers advanced training courses. Schedules for these programs vary based upon demand and advanced instructor availability. Please contact the Covington Aquatic Center at parks@covingtonwa.gov or call the front desk at 253.480.2480 to be placed on a class request list.
SEAHORSE SWIM TEAM The Seahorses Swim Team is a recreationally competitive summer team that trains at the Covington Aquatic Center. They compete in the Summer Splash League against the Federal Way Stingrays & Auburn YMCA Aqua Seals. Swimmers develop their skills including starts and turns, endurance, drills, and legal swimming of the four competitive strokes, all in a supportive environment. Come meet new friends and spend time with old ones! Anyone between the ages of 6-18 years of age who can safely swim the length of the pool without assistance or stopping is welcome to participate, but a swimming level competency of Learn-to-Swim Level 4 or higher is recommended. Registration fee includes team cap, team shirt, and meet fees. Note: Pre-season meeting info will be sent to registered participants. Practices will be scheduled in groups, during the 6-8 a.m. timeframe on weekday mornings. For Summer 2021, swim meets (competitions) will be scheduled on three Saturday afternoons as “virtual swim meets” with no guest team on site. Class 3164.26.0600

WATER EXERCISE Water exercise classes are great aerobic and cardiovascular workouts that will help you increase your cardiovascular endurance, improve your heart rate, and help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Per our COVID-19 Operations Plan, we require participants to maintain six feet of separation at all times. Our preregistration water exercise classes are 55-minutes long and include a few different options:

A more intense cardio muscle building workout with emphasis on interval training while reducing impact to the body’s joints.
WATERX - SHALLOW AEROBICS
A low-impact aerobics and cardiovascular workout in the shallow-end of the pool. These classes emphasize stretching, developing muscular strength, and developing range of motion.
WATERX - DEEP AEROBICS
These classes in the deep-end of the pool give one of the greatest aerobic and toning workouts available with no impact to the body’s joints! These specialized aerobics and cardiovascular workouts provide muscular conditioning and excellent core strengthening.

PARENT & CHILD, PRESCHOOL AQUATICS AND LEARN-TO-SWIM
We are pleased to offer a comprehensive program designed by the American Red Cross. Classes are offered for all ages and all ability levels. Parent & Child and Preschool Aquatics classes require an adult from the same household in-water with the student to provide support. Beginning levels focus on water adjustment and introduce basic swimming and water safety skills. More advanced levels concentrate on stroke development, stroke refinement and additional water safety skills. Lessons are 25-minutes long, except for Competitive Swim Lessons, which run 55-minutes.
