City of Covington Fall 2021 Recreation Guide
ATHLETICS PREVIEW
FALL VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Our co-ed fall league for youth aims at providing an opportunity for kids to learn about teamwork and sportsmanship. Practices are held weeknights beginning in early November. Practice days and times are determined by the volunteer coach. Games are held on Saturdays at Cedar Heights Middle School and Mattson Middle School.
Matches begin November 6 and the season ends December 18. There will be an end of season tournament for all divisions given there are at minimum three teams in the division. Registration closes September 21. Space is limited and we cannot guarantee space will be available on the deadline date. This program may be modified based on King County’s Safe Start Washington Plan.
WINTER BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Our winter basketball league aims at providing an opportunity for kids to learn about teamwork and sportsmanship. Practices are held weeknights and begin the first week of January. Practice days and times are determined by the volunteer coach. Games are held on Saturdays at surrounding middle and elementary schools.
The season tips off on January 15 and ends February 26. Registration closes December 1 and the early registration period ends November 1. Space is limited and we cannot guarantee there will be space available on the deadline date. This program may be modified based on King County’s Safe Start Washington Plan.
REC PROGRAMS PREVIEW
Star Parties
Sail the Milky Way with local astronomers who will provide star gazing expertise along with access to telescopes, binoculars and star charts. We will explore the Moon, the planets, constellations, stars, clusters and galaxies that each season's night scape presents.
September 14 - 8 p.m. October 12 - 7 p.m. November 16 - 6 p.m. December 14 - 6 p.m.

*Inclement, cloudy weather will likely cause cancellation of the Star Party. Cancellation notification would be posted at the Seattle Astronomical Society web site at www.seattleastro.org
THE ART OF SCIENCE
Calling all curious science explorers! Do you love to learn about the world around you? Is WHY your favorite question to ask? Do you also love to color, move, sing, and act? Then this class if for you! Explore different weekly themes of science while engaging through visual and performing arts:

This is a parent and child class. An $8 material fee to cover weekly supplies and materials is due.
WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE
This is a non-contact martial arts program. In this class, you will be working on basic martial arts self defense techniques as well as coordination, balance, respect, goal setting and

AMERICAN RED CROSS TRAINING
The Covington Aquatic Center offers advanced training courses. Schedules for these programs vary based upon demand and advanced instructor availability. Please contact the Covington Aquatic Center at parks@covingtonwa.gov or call the front desk at 253.480.2480 to be placed on a class request list.
