ARSENIC & OLD LACE
A play by Joseph Kesselring Directed by Rex Madigan
The play, set in the 1940’s, is a clever combination of the farcical and the macabre and centres on two elderly sisters who are famous in their Brooklyn neighbourhood for their numerous acts of charity. Unfortunately, not all of their charities are within the law. The two women are unknowingly assisted in their crimes by their nephew “Teddy” who believed he is Teddy Roosevelt. Matters get complicated when a second nephew, a theatre critic, discovers exactly what they have been up to.
To add to the mayhem a third nephew appears after having just escaped from a prison for the criminally insane with his accomplice Dr Herman Einstein.
