Seasonal Pool Manager Responsible for supervising and administering day to day operations, management, activities and programs at the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center, in order to provide quality aquatics programming and services.

arts & entertainment The Chesterfield Amphitheater 2022 season is right around the corner and we are so excited to welcome back all of our loyal concert-goers!

A full schedule of concerts and festivals, free and ticketed, is well in the works. Some of our already announced shows are on sale now and include Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine on August 10 and “Weird Al” Yankovic on August 28. The community-loved FREE “Sounds of Summer Concert Series” will also be returning with the best-of-the-best tribute bands from the St. Louis region and beyond! Matt Hirschfeld Matt’s style is inspired by the late New York Times caricature artist, Al Hirschfeld, who suggested, in a 1997 documentary, that one day an artist might be able to do what he does, but on the computer rather than with a pen.

Not only has Matt’s work been featured in the New York Times and Variety, he has also created pieces for NBC/ Universal, Lionsgate, Paramount and the Walt Disney Company.

Our 5th annual Shamrock Run will take place on March 5, 2022 at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex. The run will consist of a 5K and 10K, as well as a Fun Run for kids! The 5K and 10K will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m. Participants will be given the option to run either in person or virtually.

Happy Hour Run Come out for the healthiest happy hour of the year! The Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts Department invites you to the Chesterfield Happy Hour Run on June 9 at 6 p.m. This run is a timed 5K and each participant will receive a shirt with a ticket for one free beer. Bring your company out and sign up as a team and receive a corporate discount on registration. Runners are encouraged to stay after the run for food, drinks, and networking!

1. Due to staff availability, we may not be able to open Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center (CFAC) during the week (Mon-Fri.) in the early or late summer season.

2. Closing date is subject to change without notice, depending on staff availability.

3. Policy for closing (CFAC): Our aquatic management staff has the authority to close our facilities early due to thunderstorms, rain and/or cool temperatures. On days when the weather is not conducive for swimming, our managers have also been given the discretion to close the pools early if attendance is poor.

July 25 - 29 • Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center • 1 - 4 p.m. • Ages 8-12 Resident: $215 • Non-Resident: $265 PADI Seal Team is a pool-only, activity-filled introduction to the exciting world of scuba diving under the direct supervision of certified scuba instructors. Participants will complete a new “AquaMission” each day to learn new scuba skills. Each participant will receive an Activity Logbook, a Seal Team member card (mailed to their home) and wall certificate. All equipment is provided. Participants must be comfortable in deep water.

DISCOVER SCUBA EXPERIENCE

June 26, July 31, August 28 • Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center • 9 - 11 a.m. • Ages 10+ Resident: $55 • Non-Resident: $70 Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? While not an actual scuba certification, during a Discover Scuba Diving experience you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. You’ll use all the basic scuba gear including a mask, snorkel and fins, a buoyancy compensating jacket that also carries your scuba tank, a scuba regulator to breathe from and instrumentation to monitor depth and air supply. You might also wear a scuba wetsuit.

June 26, July 31, August 28 • Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center • 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. • All Ages Resident: $40 • Non-Resident: $50 Discover Snorkeling is a way to introduce participants to the fun of snorkeling. A Y-kiki Divers staff member will spend time with you reviewing what you can expect to see, the importance of properly fitting a mask, making the right fin choice, and going over the differences between snorkels. All children between the ages of 5-18 who want to be on a swim team, come join in on the fun this summer. This swim team promotes a fun and positive environment for all swimmers. The Chesterfield Crocs Swim Team is a recreational team with an emphasis on developing basic competitive skills. The swim team will compete against other teams in the Southwest St. Louis County Municipal Swim League.

Registration deadline is May 1. Must have at least 60 swimmers.

aquatics MINI CROCS Ages 4-6 • Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center

Mini Crocs is a program for kids ages 4-6 with an interest in joining the Chesterfield Crocs Swim Team.

Young swimmers can gain skill and confidence by joining the pre-team program, an extension of the swim team, before joining the Crocs. All swimmers will be assessed during their first week of practice. Mini Crocs must be able to swim half the length of the pool unassisted without stopping and/or grabbing the wall during practice. We do not expect your swimmer to have the perfect stroke, this requirement is a safety precaution.

CROCS DIVING CLINICS July 25-29 or August 1-5 Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Resident: $105 Non-Resident: $130 Ages 7-14 Crocs Dive Clinic is designed to help students learn basic diving board skills. This clinic is for all skill levels from beginner to advanced diver. Everyone will learn the basics, forward approaches, back presses and line-ups. Emphasis will be on teaching front, back, inward dives and front flips. Other dives will be introduced based on the diver’s skill level. Participants must be able to swim 25 meters without stopping and be able to tread water for one minute.

Central Park • All Ages • Free The Storybook Walk at Central Park provides an outdoor education adventure through Central Park.

This new addition to Central Park is a great way to engage families in health, literacy and environmental awareness. The walk consists of 18 stations around the Central Park lake. Each station consists of two pages out of a child’s book handpicked by staff from the St. Louis County Library. The route starts at the front end of the Central Park playground and wraps around the lake. After you complete your walk, be sure to stop at the Library to check out other fun and exciting books.

MAY’S GARDEN FOR WILDLIFE PRESENTATION City Hall Chambers • All Ages • Free Join us in the City Council Chambers from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, to learn about gardening for wildlife, our butterflies and pollinators. We still need three interested participants from each ward of our City who will receive a ‘native flora for butterfly-pollinator gardens kit’!

This presentation is to help assure quality nature and success for the 12 new pollinator gardens to be planted by families in their yards throughout our City! Participants who receive a kit, three from each ward, must agree to take responsibility for planting and maintaining the native florae and to send a photograph of that accomplishment within certain timeframes after planting, in May and October, because Chesterfield Citizens Environmental Advisory Committee (CCEAC) must show that it achieved its objectives. An adult family representative must be present to “Commit for the Kit.” Learn from Sue Leahy of the “Wild Ones” how to plant these gardens and maintain them, and how to include our smaller, native birds in your own native garden designs. Other native garden giveaways provided as well; supplies will be limited.

Also, Vic Jost of Jost Greenhouses will be acknowledged as a “Green Team” member at this event for his significant contributions to helping enhance native/ natural world conservation in Chesterfield!

MONARCH-CHESTERFIELD LEVEE TRAIL The Monarch-Chesterfield Levee Trail is an 11-mile long trail that encompasses the majority of commercial, industrial and recreational land uses in Chesterfield Valley. The new bridge path, completed in June 2016, connects the Monarch Levee Trail in St. Louis County to the Katy Trail in St. Charles County. The Monarch Chesterfield Levee provides an exceptional trail riding experience for over 250 miles.

RIVER’S EDGE PARK - North of The District

Trails • Recreation Programs • Shelter • Picnic Benches • Lake • Fishing • Restrooms • Boardwalks This peaceful 188-acre passive park is conveniently located near the heart of Chesterfield Valley, but is tucked quietly away from the bustling retail commerce just south of the Missouri River. To access the heart of the park, visitors walk less than 1/4 mile on a crushed limestone trail before the trail opens up to a beautiful lake surrounded by a wall of mature trees on every side. The trail continues around the entire 1.6 mile circumference of the lake and branches off to one boardwalk and a mulched trail. The park offers a convenient boating dock attached to a park shelter for fishing enthusiasts.

The Parks, Recreation & Arts Department has provided the copious amount of fish that occupy the lake.

River’s Edge Park parking is in the shared parking lot on the western edge of The District. The park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

EBERWEIN PARK - 1627 Old Baxter Rd.

The Eberwein family used this land as a farm and their residence up until the time of purchase by the City.

To preserve the history, character, and charm of the site, the Eberwein Park was designed as a passive community park with a farm-like theme. To accomplish this, the existing large red barn, which was originally constructed in the early 1900s, has been preserved.

DOG PARK (MEMBERS ONLY) - This two-acre dog park offers pups the opportunity to explore the great outdoors, whether it’s running around with their friends or exploring the trees and bushes. There are separate areas for small and large dogs. The Dog Park is open to residents and non-residents and each dog must wear their own dog park tag. Dog tags for each dog are $45 for residents and $65 for non-residents. Please visit City Hall during normal business hours for an application. To register your dog, you will need to have documentation that the dog has been spayed or neutered, proof of residency and rabies records for each dog.

Dogs younger than four months are not allowed in the Dog Park.

Party reservations can be made at City Hall. Parties must be reserved at least two weeks in advance and be paid in full at time of booking. No party reservations on holidays. There are two party packages to choose from and all packages include two hours in the party area. These packages include from 12 to 16 guests and they range in price for residents/non-residents from $150 to $235.
