Fourth of July weekend packed with music, fireworks and festivities patriotic events Free planned for the holiday weekend.

Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with two exciting patriotic events in Chesterfield. The Chesterfield Amphitheater will host the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America on Thursday, July 2 at 6:30 p.m. The Band of Mid-America will present an exciting performance that will serve to instill patriotism. The unit strives to inspire the hearts and minds of our men and women serving around the world and to tell the Air Force story through the universal language of music. This concert is free to the public and is the finale to the new Orchestra Music Series.

To celebrate the Fourth of July, we will have our annual Fireworks Celebration that has grown to be the biggest and best fireworks show in the metro area. The event is presented by the City of Chesterfield and Renewal by Anderson and sponsored in part by Sachs Properties and Chesterfield Mall. The main viewing area will be in the west parking lot near Dillard’s and Macy’s at Chesterfield Mall. The Main Stage will present a FREE concert starting at 7 p.m. featuring Dogs of Society, an Elton John tribute band. to understand is that there are many other cities that have a much higher sales tax generation per capita than does Chesterfield, and yet are not required to contribute to the pool anywhere near the percentage that Chesterfield is mandated.

Sales tax issue makes headway; Walk and talk with the Mayor Hello Chesterfield residents!

Again I have the opportunity to share a few things that may interest you. The first thing is related to my wife’s efforts to encourage our residents to get more active and enjoy better health. As some of you may know, I walk fairly frequently for exercise and cardiovascular benefit. An idea arose that perhaps we would have a “Walk and Talk with the Mayor” at the recently opened River’s Edge Park on the north side of the levee near the west end of Taubman Prestige Outlet Mall.

Saturday, June 20 at 8 a.m will be the first of these events. We will meet at the boat ramp pavilion. The trail is approximately 1.6 miles around the lake and it takes me 25-30 minutes per lap (I usually do at least two laps). We can share information and swap stories while walking, and you can express concerns and ask questions in a casual environment. If residents like the idea, I am happy to do this on a semi-regular basis and post a schedule on the city website. You may check the city website at chesterfield.mo.us and click on city calendar to verify that the activity is still scheduled, or for future walks.

Of course, the newsletter would not be complete without an update on the sales tax issue. I am sure some of you are getting tired of the issue that seems to keep dragging on, and I too am eager to achieve some progress. One thing that I think is important

Our population is the second highest among all cities in the county and you would expect our revenue to be higher than most other smaller cities. The press would have you think that Chesterfield is greedy and selfish, but I can assure you that the relatively minor changes before the legislature would help not only our city, but six others as well, while not significantly decreasing others’ revenue.

Our city has been very considerate of other municipalities.

As you may know, the legislature is in session until mid-May and by then we will know if bills have been passed that would modify the current method of sales tax distribution.

Because of the lead time involved in the publication of this newsletter, I can only tell you where we stand as of early May. We have had successful hearings in both the House and Senate and the language from the bill that we support was attached to a Senate Bill and passed by the House and then back to the Senate for approval of the House amendment. Interestingly, language that would allow St. Louis County to put to the voters of unincorporated County a ½-cent additional sales tax for law enforcement was also attached as a house amendment.

There is still opposition to our bill, in spite of further watering down and phasing in of the modifications. A meeting, referred to as a conference committee, is scheduled in an attempt to resolve differences between the House and Senate. By the time this newsletter reaches you, we will know if the bill has passed or not. Regardless, we have come much further this year than ever before and are very thankful to Senator Dave Schatz, Representative Mike Leara and Representative Sue Allen for their hard work and support.

Locally, and across the country, Police Departments have begun establishing safe locations on their Police Department/City Hall parking lots for residents to transact personal business such as a “Craigslist” sale/trade exchange. This response has come about as a result of an increase in the number of such sale and trade transactions taking place in unsafe environments, which then sometimes result in criminal activity.

In the interest of providing a safe means of conducting such transactions for our Chesterfield residents, the Police Department plans to establish a ‘Safe Exchange Zone” on our City Hall property for the public transaction of business such as “Craigslist sales.” The intent is to designate an area, provide appropriate signage, and install video cameras so as to monitor any such transactions by the public. This “Safe Zone” will be in effect starting June 1, 2015. Please call 636.537.3000 if you have questions or concerns.

Safety Town gears up for 2015 sessions

A civil engineer by trade, his expertise and knowledge were put to use as a member of the Mayor’s Emergency Task Force Committee following this catastrophic event. He served as a Director on the Chesterfield Valley TIF Commission, which brought about $72.5 million in funding for critical infrastructure needs in the Valley that enabled it to become the thriving economic engine we all know today. Glenn was a part of the Chesterfield Task Force for the Development of Chesterfield Valley-Western Area. He has provided professional engineering services to many Chesterfield developers, including Sachs Properties who developed Chesterfield Village, in addition to numerous home builders and the City of Chesterfield itself.

Glenn was also part of the Land Use Zoning Ordinance Committee during the city’s early stages of incorporation and served as a Commissioner on the Monarch Chesterfield Levee District, appointed by St. Louis County.

Glenn has over 50 years of continuous service with the St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He has an esteemed 38year military career, having retired in 1993 as a Captain in the US Navy. He is a Korean War Veteran and received numerous medals and service ribbons.

Glenn has served as a trustee in the Chesterfield Meadows Subdivision and he and his wife Shirley are active members of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where they volunteer for many leadership positions and projects as well. He is a current member of the Chesterfield Development Advisory Council and a former Director of the Chesterfield Community Development Corporation.

The Citizen of the Year Selection Committee is made up of citizen committee and community volunteers who presented their recommendation to the City Council following their review of several nominations.

Safety Town is a nationally recognized preschool safety program which teaches 4, 5 and 6 year olds about a wide variety of safety issues including bicycle safety, water safety, school bus safety and stranger danger.

The program includes classroom activities, as well as outside hands-on activities in the miniature Safety Town city.

The very popular Bubble Bus will return to Kids’ Zone this year.

Safety Town is one of the department’s most popular programs. In addition to commissioned Police Officers, the Safety Town staff includes teen counselors from

The Police Department and AARP will offer another AARP Smart Driver Course on Wednesday, June 24 at City Hall from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This research based, four-hour course teaches valuable defensive driving skills, provides a refresher of the rules of the road, safety strategies and tips for how to adapt one’s driving to compensate for changes that may come about with aging. This is a single morning session and does not involve a test.

Fees are $15 for AARP members and $20 for others. Course graduates may check with their auto insurance carriers to see if insurance discounts are available for taking this course.

Fireworks Ordinance: It's against the law A Chesterfield ordinance has long prohibited individuals from either selling or discharging fireworks, except by permit. Fireworks can be dangerous at times and can cause both personal injury and property damage. It is unlawful for any person to manufacture, sell, offer for sale, ship or cause to be shipped into Chesterfield, any item of fireworks. This section applies to nonresidents as well as residents of the city.

Chesterfield Planning & Development wins local award The Chesterfield Planning & Development Services Division received an award for Best Planning Practice for their Data Management Practices from the American Planning Association (APA).

The award was based on the city’s innovative use of its user-friendly Microsoft Access Database tools, interactive Geographic Information Systems (GIS) application and GIS map gallery. All of these tools have been developed by city staff and are maintained and expanded on a daily basis.

By having the tools to create a system for overall data management, city staff is able to provide higher quality and more efficient services to its residents and developers. These tools have been designed to manage permits, inspections, site plans and other development related documents. In addition, the Data Management Practices have also made information more readily available to Chesterfield residents directly via databases and maps that are available on the city’s website. The award was presented at the APA’s 2015 St. Louis Spring Planning Workshop on March 31, 2015.

Chesterfield population grows; renovation and addition permits increase

Public Works projects are under way

Over the last several years, Chesterfield has experienced an increase in the number of building permits requested for improvements, renovations, remodels and new construction on residential property. It is evident from the number of permit requests we receive, more people are reinvesting in their existing property to fit their changing needs in lieu of moving and selling their home.

In 2015, almost 160 permits have been issued for work on residential property. Below is a breakdown of the type of permits requested: Basement Finish: 21 Interior remodel: 43 Porch/Patio/Deck addition: 52

Chesterfield is also experiencing population growth as more developers are building new residential subdivisions, as well as expanding existing assisted living centers. Friendship Village of West County is undergoing construction of a new residential structure for 30 independent living units and associated parking. Currently, three independent living villas are being built as well.

Solar energy does not produce any pollutants and is one of the cleanest sources of energy.

Many people today are looking toward living a more eco-friendly lifestyle. From carpooling, to recycling, constructing green roofs, including native plantings and creating community gardens, communities are going green and Chesterfield is no exception. In 2013, in an effort to encourage renewable energy efforts at your home, the City of Chesterfield passed its first renewable energy ordinance for residential structures. This ordinance provides information on the permit process and development standards for installation of renewable energy systems at your home.

Grading has also begun on the development of the Arbors at Kehrs Mill in Ward 4 of the city. This new residential development sits on 58 acres of land at Strecker and Kehrs Mill Road. It will include 44 single-family homes being constructed by McBride and Sons and Claymont Development.

Site work started in April for construction of another new residential development located at Schoettler Road and Clayton Road. Known as Schoettler Grove, this 17-acre site will have 31 single-family homes. The home builders are Prestige Custom Homes and Benton Homebuilders.

In February 2015 zoning was approved for a single-family residential development located on the north side of Wild Horse Creek Road. This development, Bur Oaks, will have 35 single-family homes on lots ranging from 15,000 to 18,524 square feet in size.

Site development plans and architectural elevations are under review by the city at this time. Pulte Homes is the developer.

GOING GREEN! Renewable energy efforts at home

Since 2013, the Planning & Development Services Division has reviewed and approved 27 permits for installation of renewable energy systems on residential properties. As more state and federal incentives emerge, coupled with the environmental concerns and individual desires to live healthy and sustainable lifestyles, we expect the number of permits requested to continue to rise.

Three residential street concrete slab replacement projects are expected to be completed in 2015. Plans call for 35,300 square yards of concrete slabs to be replaced on 27 different residential streets. Residents adjacent to the planned replacement areas, along with subdivision trustees, will receive project notification by mail. Asphalt Mill and Overlay The City of Chesterfield is scheduled to mill and overlay the asphalt pavement on Clayton Douglas Court and Hitchcock Road. This project will consist of the removal (milling) of the top portion of the asphalt and the construction of a new asphalt riding surface.

Mill and overlay projects are generally constructed fairly quickly. Residents who utilize these streets can expect work to begin in June or July and be completed in only a few weeks.

Appalachian Trail Drive Phase II The City of Chesterfield has obtained a federal Surface Transportation Grant to fund 70% of the costs to reconstruct Appalachian Trail Drive from Beaver Creek to White Road.

Construction on this project will likely begin in June and continue through the fall.

Riparian Trail Chesterfield Creek is incising, causing substantive erosion which is threatening adjacent utilities and the Riparian Trail (located along Lydia Hill Drive). City staff has contracted with Intuition and Logic to design improvements to the creek and address the associated erosion. This project is scheduled to be bid this summer, with construction beginning in November.

Upcoming Projects The City of Chesterfield makes every effort to obtain grant monies when available.

Most recently the city used grant funding to overlay Edison Avenue, to construct a new bridge on Timberlake Manor Drive, to reconstruct Ladue Road and to reconstruct Appalachian Trail from Olive to Beaver Creek (Phase I). The city has also secured grant funding for the following projects: Greentrails Drive South – Reconstruction scheduled for 2016.

Chesterfield adds Arts to Parks & Rec Division City Council has approved the addition of arts to the Parks & Recreation Division in an effort to showcase art and increase interest within the local community. Jason Baucom has been promoted to the new position of Superintendent of Arts & Entertainment.

Jason was in charge of Central Park and Chesterfield Amphitheater and under his direction, the Chesterfield Amphitheater has seen tremendous growth and provides great entertainment opportunities for the region.

As the Superintendent of Arts & Entertainment, Jason will continue to oversee operations at the Chesterfield Amphitheater, as well as develop the new arts program with the Division, including new events and ideas designed to bring arts into our community.

We are very excited about this new transition and the experience Jason will bring to the program.

SPOTLIGHT ON ART “Yue Ling Chen” is a life-size bronze sculpture of Olympian Yue Ling Chen, the first-time Chinese gold medalist, created by He Datian. Datian’s art is both contemporary and classic, merging real and surreal, personal and universal, new and old.

The sculpture is provided by Fine Art Ltd. through an Art-on-Loan program.

The Seasons of the Riparian Trail

CHESTERFIELD AMPHITHEATER THURSDAYS AT 6:30 P.M.

During the year of 2013, my granddaughter Talia (8) and I agreed to journal about the new Riparian Trail. Talia named the journal “The Seasons of the Trail” and we began our adventure. At first, we were walking together. It quickly became an event where Talia agreed to do the writing and I would do the walking.

We set up the format to log an item and a photograph each month. On Talia’s exact birthday in February, the trail was covered with snow. Talia was excited about the gift from From left: Donna Brzenk Mother Nature. We were in awe of the beautiful flowers that and Talia Retych appeared each month. In March, our neighbor, Mimi Jeske, gave us a four-leaf clover from the trail. The wildflowers were abundant. We saw common violets, blue phlox, thistle, crown vetch, yellow partridge pea, ironweed, larkspur, honeysuckle, bonset and many more. Another fun activity was to name the animals and insects along the trail. Year round, the deer would cross our path. We saw Tommy the Turtle and even a fox. We tried to identify some of the paw prints found on the bridges. One highlight when we walked, Talia Surrounded by Partridge Pea Flowers was hearing the hooting of an owl. Our neighbor, Brenda Boyd, captured a photo of the owl and we named him Merlin for our journal.

Naming and identifying trees was very interesting. Have you ever seen the white branches at the top of the Sycamore against a bright blue sky? We found the shaggy bark Hickory and a bumpy bark tree that still needs a name. The trail has some scattered wild Dogwoods in the spring. Old Cedar trees filled the entrance near Central Park and were perfect with the snow at Christmas. For me, this has been an opportunity to create memories with my granddaughter. Talia was able to share the journal with her friends at school. Thank you Chesterfield for opening this wonderful trail.

Taste of St. Louis Pedal to cure cancer the Cause, a cycling event that raises returns to Chesterfield Pedal funds to support cancer research at Siteman The Taste of St. Louis has announced that the event will return to the Chesterfield Amphitheater September 18 through 20, 2015. The Taste of St. Louis, also known as “The Ultimate Food Experience,” is a three-day festival that offers foodies from around the region the opportunity to sample delicious food in a wide array of culinary delights from the region’s finest restaurants along with live entertainment. Details about the event will soon follow.

MARYVILLE SYMPHONY Maryville Symphony will play great melodies from the best classical composers to recent Broadway hits on Thursday, June 11.

Chesterfield welcomes OASIS Summer programs at City Hall

The Pickleball season has begun! Grab a paddle and a ball and get outside and play every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex, north of the Parks Office at 17891 North Outer 40 Road. Individuals who do not have their own paddle and balls, can come into the Parks Office and borrow the equipment and return when finished.

All that is needed is a valid drivers license.

Green Team recipients honored At the February 18 City Council meeting, the Chesterfield Citizens Committee for the Environment presented Charity Sharity, Girl Scout Troop 2534 and Ozark Berry Farm with “Green Team” awards. Recipients of the “Green Team” emblem are distinguished in their outstanding or innovative environmental efforts. They have educated and facilitated change by encouraging the reduction, reuse or recycling of solid waste materials destined for landfills, and/or helped enhance native/natural world conservation.

Charity Sharity was presented with a “Green Team” award for their outstanding or innovating environmental efforts in the collection and reuse of fabric and sewing notions, and distributing them to over 180 service organizations in the region.

Chesterfield named Sterling Tree City USA for 18th consecutive year The Arbor Day Foundation has awarded the City of Chesterfield with the “Sterling” Tree City USA Award for the 18th consecutive year in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The “Sterling” title is awarded to communities that achieve 10 consecutive Growth Awards. The City of Chesterfield became a “Sterling” Tree City in 2011.

In order to receive the Tree City USA status, the city must meet four standards including having a tree board or department, tree care ordinance, a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

CAPY’s annual Back to School Pool Party is set for August 21 from 8:15-11 p.m. at the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center.

CAPY is the Chesterfield Alliance for Positive Youth, the mission of which is to promote healthy, safe and substance-free choices for the youth of Chesterfield.

Members of Girl Scout Troop 2534 were chosen for distinction in their outstanding or innovative environmental efforts, including planting and maintaining the 25th Anniversary Butterfly Garden in Eberwein Park.

This party is open to all Chesterfield-area middle school students. Parents are also welcome to stay and enjoy watching the kids have fun. Pizza, soda, water and cookies are provided at no charge.

The event will feature games that will help kids learn about the negative effects of substance abuse. The event is also meant to showcase to the kids that a good time may be had without the use of moodaltering substances. Educational literature concerning substance abuse issues will also be available for parents.

The Rockwood Drug Free Coalition, The Alliance for Healthy Communities, Preferred Family Healthcare, the City of Chesterfield and the Chesterfield Police Department also provide assistance for this event.

Monthly electronics recycling no longer accepting certain items WITS, the nonprofit charity for the city’s monthly electronics donations and recycling, has modified the items they are accepting. They are requesting as many working and reusable items as possible. Beginning with the July 25 collection the following items are NO LONGER accepted: CRT (large back) monitors or televisions; display monitors with cracks; household batteries; software or tapes of any kind; small appliances such as blenders, toasters, hair dryers; clothing, shoes, toys, linens and dishes; or any non-reusable items. The collection is held the fourth Saturday of the month on the parking lot across from Dillard’s at Chesterfield Mall from 9 a.m. -3 p.m.

Festivals galore this summer at the Butterfly House GREEN HOMES FESTIVAL Saturday, June 20 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The 14th annual Green Homes Festival returns on Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For the first time, the event will be held at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Faust Park. The festival showcases affordable, practical options for sustainable living combined with positive ways to maintain the health of people and the planet.

The Butterfly House location will highlight the connections between plant-based greenliving ideas and solutions to energy, water and waste issues. Admission for this familyfriendly festival is free. This event is hosted by the EarthWays Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden and is presented by Ameren Missouri.

This year’s festival features more than 70 exhibits and demonstrations by the region’s leading sustainability focused businesses and organizations. Attendees can talk one-onone with a wide range of experts about their specific interests and project ideas, and learn more about home improvement and healthy homes.

Children and families can have fun building a sun-powered miniature roadster to compete in the popular annual solar car races. Sample treats cooked in solar ovens and snap photos with costumed recycling characters. Join in recycled arts activities led by local arts groups, and enjoy sustainability-themed hands-on activities and face painting.

Enjoy live local music as you stroll the “Eat Well Local” food court, featuring healthy treats and beverages. Bring your reusable bottle and get free water refills.

Festival visitors can also enjoy the year-round attractions of this site. A $4 Fun Pass will be available for entry to the Butterfly House’s Tropical Conservatory and the St. Louis Carousel. Interpreters will be on hand to share stories of the Faust Historic Village.

Chesterfield Arts opens new location; offers variety of classes Chesterfield Arts has moved to its new location at 13379 Olive Boulevard, conveniently located at the intersection of Highway 141 and Olive Boulevard in Chesterfield in the Woodchase Plaza.

Summer classes for students of all ages and abilities will begin at the new facility Monday, June 1 and run through Friday, August 7. Beginning at age 3, students will be able to take a variety of classes that focus on drawing, painting, pottery and more. Each week, different themes will be explored in order to provide students with the option of taking multiple sessions to gain more knowledge of the specific mediums, while also providing a more in-depth approach to each subject matter. The teachers are looking forward to helping each student develop their artistic skills while discovering their creative potential.

New this year is the partnership with Lindenwood University, where high school juniors and seniors will be able to earn college credit while attending class on the campus of Lindenwood University in St. Charles. Several new courses are offered for teenagers, including a Pinhole Camera class and an AP Portfolio class. In addition to weekly Kaleidoscope classes for grades K-12, Chesterfield Arts offers a teen open studio night, where Kaleidoscope teenagers are invited to get creative with their choice of projects and materials.

Konnemans entrepreneurial legacy lives on

By Ann Chrissos Chesterfield Historic & Landmarks Preservation Committee The Konnemans were another entrepreneurial family who established businesses and residences in Chesterfield.

Francis Everett, Sr. (b. 1876, d. 1949) was one of the first men to deliver mail on horseback from the Chesterfield Post Office. He was the son of John F. (b. 1847, d. 1905) and Hannah C. (Enloe) Konneman (b. 1847, cl.1908) and the brother of Maude and Minnie. Francis and first wife Lena Heimann (b. 1883, d. 1919) had six children, Emily, Francis Everett, Jr. (b.

1907, d. 1983), Elzada, Zena, Clyde and Glen (b. 1914, d. 1984). A year after Lena’s death in 1919, Francis married Charlotte Wilhelmine Buck (b. 1883, d. 1923). Their brief marriage ended with Charlotte’s death in 1923, and Francis once again married a year later. His third wife was Eliza Macbeth.

Exotic European cars invade Chesterfield on June 7 The St. Louis European Auto Show will bring over 200 exotic cars and motorcycles to Chesterfield on Sunday, June 7 at 11 a.m. at Taubman Prestige Outlets. The show’s singular mission to celebrate European cars and their owners is equally tied to its desire to give back by donating its proceeds to its current charity, Shriners Hospitals for Children. The St. Louis European Auto Show is one of the finest car shows in the Midwest and has raised over $300,000 for its charity since 2002.

In the early 1930s, Francis’ oldest son Francis, Jr. (called Everett) started his own delivery business called the Olive Street Road Express. He transported vegetables, fruits, cattle, hogs, and other items to market and

on his return trip he hauled supplies for the local stores. At first, Everett conducted his business with only one truck, but eventually he added two more trucks to the delivery service. In 1935, Everett married Viola Ann Schiller, who was working for the Telephone Company as a phone operator at the old Chesterfield Bank Building (corner of Baxter and Old Chesterfield Roads). They lived on Conway Road with their two daughters, Katherine and JoAnn. Everett purchased a bus and became the first school bus driver for the R-6 Consolidated District.

Glen Konneman shared his older brother’s entrepreneurial spirit. He and his wife Leona Koebel purchased a store in 1946 and added frozen food lockers and other equipment in 1951. They processed produce and meat including deer for the customers who rented their lockers and also for people with home freezers. The Konnemans had a truck to transport freshly slaughtered beef from nearby farms to their store where they processed, cured or smoked it. When their six children, Layne, Fay, Larry, Dale, Gail and Lynn became old enough, they also worked in the business. The boys helped with the meat processing, while the girls helped in the store.

In 1956, Glen and his brother Everett got into the water hauling business. For the next several years, they hauled water to many people in the Chesterfield area. When large supermarkets moved into Chesterfield in the early 1960s, the Konneman’s food

business began to decline. To make ends meet, Glen became a concrete truck driver for Breckenridge Material Company. Leona continued to operate the store until they both retired in 1979. That same year, they sold the store, locker plant and the white house next door to the store to Charles Fawcett. The building is still in use on the north side of Old Chesterfield Road, just east of Baxter Road.

Many of the early Konnemans are buried in the Gumbo Cemetery, located at 245 Long Road. The Konnemans, Hochs and Rinkels are just a few of the early families who helped move Chesterfield from a country farm community to an established city.

Frankie Ballard headlines Summer Kickoff Party at Amphitheater 92.3 WIL, Chesterfield Parks, Recreation & Arts and Chevrolet are teaming up to bring a exceptional show with none other than Frankie Ballard on Thursday, June 4 at the Chesterfield Amphitheater. The City of Chesterfield will be hosting another Art Exhibit at City Hall, beginning June 26 through August 26. The exhibit will be on display in the City Hall lobby, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature paintings from established artists Genevieve Esson and Rob Dryer, plus sculptures from Harry Harry Weber’s bronze Stan Musial will be featured in the next Art Exhibit.

The Art Exhibit will also feature Food Truck Feast, with the area’s best food truck vendors serving up delicious lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Circle Drive at City Hall on Friday, June 26 and July 31. The merger of these two events offer the opportunity to browse recognized works of art and enjoy delicious food from regional favorites. Food Truck Feast takes place the last Friday of every month through October.

CHLPC new members wanted Do you have an interest in historic preservation, education and outreach? The Chesterfield Historic and Landmark Preservation Committee (CHLPC) is looking for new members. The CHLPC is a citizen, volunteer committee which works towards education, outreach, and preservation of Chesterfield’s historic and archeological treasures! The CHLPC provides a mechanism to identify and preserve the distinctive historic, archeological and architectural characteristics of Chesterfield which represent elements of the city’s cultural, social, economic, political and architectural history. Projects of the committee include, but are not limited to cataloging and identifying historic photos, creation of a yearly calendar, conducting oral interviews of the city’s history and documentation of historic structures.
