Sincerely,

ABIGAIL LOLLIS

Abigail is an artist that is currently based in Shiloh, Illinois. She has received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Missouri – Saint Louis May 2023. With a love for painting and new found interest in Monotype printmaking, she creates expressionist and some abstract pieces.

Human emotions are extremely complex. There is so much beneath the surface that others cannot see, feel, or even begin to understand. I am fascinated with a visual representation of what appears to be going on in a person’s mind. With the inclusion of many colors and disruption of lines, I feel as if so much can be said with mark making and hopefully the viewer sees it too.

KIMBERLY S YATES

My parents got me my first camera when I was 17 and since then, you’ll almost never see me without one in my hand. My family is so used to me walking around snapping pictures that they can literally stop, pose, and continue with what they were doing almost without even noticing I was there.

But it’s when I’m out in nature that my camera really becomes an extension of myself; a way to slow down and see the world in a clearer, more beautiful way. Photography, especially macrophotography, gives us a better view of the world around us, of the beautiful details of life that exist on the edges of our consciousness. To see the individual flecks of pollen on a bee shining like gold or a spider so small it’s almost invisible, makes me appreciate a whole universe I sometimes forget exists. It reminds me that we belong to this beautiful world; it doesn’t belong to us.
