The Call Of Duty

The City of Chamblee applauds the life-saving efforts of Enrique Alfredo, Joe Kelley, and Andrew Rogers. On the morning of May 2, 2023, the three public works employees witnessed an accident on N. Peachtree Rd. and Savoy Dr. As fire trucks were heading north on N. Peachtree Road to respond to an emergency, two senior citizens were also traveling West on Savoy Drive and were in the direct path of the fire truck. Unfortunately, they hit the side of the fire truck at a high rate of speed causing severe damage to the truck. Our sanitation crew immediately recognized that there were injuries in the accident and jumped into action. They went to assist the elderly couple trapped in their smoky vehicle by cutting them out of their seatbelts. They also stayed at the scene with the injured firefighters as they waited for additional emergency responders to arrive. As the scene of the accident cleared, our team went right back to completing their sanitation route for the day. The City of Chamblee thanks Enrique Alfredo, Joe Kelley, and Andrew Rogers for their quick thinking and for going above and beyond the call of duty
