Calling all veteran Knights of the Realm! Queen Lillith has decreed a winter retreat to muster her army, repair weapons, and train for summer adventures ahead. Bring your foam weapon from camp for inspection and repairs, brush up on safety, sparring, and game rules, then duel in Ushers Ferry Lodge. If weather allows, there may also be short outdoor quests to complete. You must have previously attended Fantasy Foam Battle Camp and still have your camp weapon.

Pool Accessibility

Bender Pool is equipped with a hydraulic chair and sloping steps, in addition to traditional pool ladders.

General Pool Rules

 Children ages 5 and under must be supervised by an adult within arm’s length.

 Youth ages 6-10 must be supervised by an adult or responsible person at least age 14.

 Children’s swimsuits with permanent built-in floats are permitted but not recommended. Noodles, and suits with removable floats are not permitted. Coast guard approved lifejackets are allowed.

 Actual swim attire is required as fibers from street clothing damage the pool filter. Sorry, no basketball shorts.

 Swim diapers are required for children who are not toilet trained. They are available from the pool cashier for $1.

Locker Rooms

Locker rooms are equipped with showers, hair dryers, electrical outlets, and baby changing tables. Bring your own lock or rent one at the pool. To rent a lock, you’ll be required to leave your ID at the desk when you rent a lock; the ID will be returned when the lock is turned in. Personal locks must be removed daily. Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation is not responsible for locks or for lost or stolen items.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

Advanced registration is required. Registrations are not accepted on the first day of a session. Limited spots may be available as the start date approaches. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on the Saturday before the session begins.

WITHDRAWALS, REFUNDS, TRANSFERS

Withdrawals are accepted until 5 p.m. the Wednesday before the first day of class. A $5 non-refundable handling fee may be deducted in all cases. Beginning the Thursday before the first class, refunds are not issued unless the program is cancelled.

LOW/HIGH ENROLLMENT

Classes not reaching the minimum enrollment may be cancelled. Maximums are not guaranteed.

AGE REQUIREMENT

If your child turns the minimum age required within 30 days of the start of the program, they may be registered for that program, unless an exception is noted otherwise.

IMPORTANT: If your child does not meet the age requirement, the online registration system will reject your registration and your child will not be enrolled. In this instance, you cannot register online and should call 319-286-5566.

HEALTH REQUIREMENT

Noelridge Greenhouse

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

A permanent display of large tropical plants is housed at Noelridge Greenhouse, 4900 Council Street NE. The greenhouse is open to the public year-round weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and for special events.

TOURS

The Friends of Noelridge group offers regular guided tours of the greenhouse, landscaped beds, and butterfly tent for groups of five or more. Tours for specific age groups, adults or children, will last about one hour. To register, contact L.Farmer@Cedar-Rapids.org.

2025 LIGHTS & BLOOM

Thursday, December 4 5-8 PM Friday, December 5 5-8 PM

Stroll through the beautifully decorated tropical greenhouses. Enjoy holiday lights and refreshments. Shop for winter plant décor and unique gifts.

Admission is FREE with the donation of a non-perishable food item for HACAP to help those facing food insecurity this holiday season.

NORTHWEST RECREATION CENTER

1340 11th Street NW

Offering half or whole community room and gym rentals, this space has something for everyone. The large community room can accommodate 50-110 people. It includes a small catering kitchen with an ice machine, handwashing and 3-tiered sink, serving counter, and microwave, certain exclusions apply. Room rentals include gameroom, and table and chair setup. Basketballs are provided for gym rentals. Call 319 286-5731 to learn more.

JONES PARK LODGE

2901 Fruitland Boulevard SW

Nestled in Jones Park, this renovated lodge seats up to 90 people and includes an outdoor patio. It offers a serving area with counters, sink, microwave, and refrigerator. Parking, pickleball courts, disc golf, a playground, pool, and ball diamonds are nearby. Call 319-286-5091 to learn more.

FERRY HISTORIC VILLAGE

Ushers Ferry is your one stop-shop for all things event! It features multiple venues that boast style and elegance. Choose from the small country church that seats 75, a gazebo with seating for 100, the 7,240 square-foot lodge that seats 300, or reserve the entire historic village for your special day. ELLIS EVENT CENTER

This modern 2,100-square-foot event center overlooks the scenic pond at Ellis Golf Course and is available to rent year-round. The facility includes indoor seating for up to 120 people and an outdoor patio that seats an additional 40. Call 319-286-5091 to learn more.

SHAKESPEARE GARDEN

LOCATED AT ELLIS PARK

The Ellis Park Shakespeare Garden resembles an English garden with arbors, benches, and beautiful flowers. Nestled in the park with a view of the Cedar River, this is a simple, intimate area for your wedding ceremony.

The garden can accommodate up to 50 people, wedding party included. Reservations are offered in two-hour time slots.

Park Pavilions

Rent one of our park pavilions up to one year in advance. The first date for pavilion rental in the spring is May 2, 2026. Sizes range from 7-40 tables. Rates vary based on size, amenities, and location. Pavilions are rented for a single time period of 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
