The Buckeye Police Department offers different programs to get involved in community safety. The Citizens Academy, typically held twice a year, is a five-to-six-week educational course focused on the department’s mission and police services. From crime prevention to investigations and emergency response, the academy provides both class instruction and hands on exercises on a variety of topics.
There is also the Volunteers in Police Services, or V.I.P.S. Depending on your background and skillset, volunteers can be assigned to staff police lobbies to provide customer service to our visitors or be trained to patrol our neighborhoods or assist in traffic control through the Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.) program. C.O.P. volunteers are tasked with providing an extra set of eyes in our community to report suspicious activity.
Sign up and get all the details on our programs by visiting buckeyeaz.gov/rec!
