ABOUT THIS GUIDE Play Naturally, Blue Springs Parks & Recreation’s activity guide, is released three times per year: Winter/Spring (early January), Summer (early May), and Fall (early August). It is a digital publication containing all upcoming programs and events from the department, and includes links to relevant webpages. As program details may change throughout the course of the season, we recommend checking activity webpages and Blue Springs Parks & Recreation social media pages for timely program updates. This guide is available to download on the Activity Guide page of our website, bluespringsgov.com/parks.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION Blue Springs Parks & Recreation strives to provide the highest quality recreational activities possible. It is the department’s desire that each customer be satisfied with the recreational activities in which they participate. If a customer is not satisfied, corrective efforts will be made to improve the experience. Each specific request or inquiry is reviewed by staff for its own individual circumstances.

If necessary, we can arrange for one of the following to occur (full or prorated): repeat the activity at no charge, receive credit that can be applied to any other activity at no charge or receive a refund. Requests for refunds and transfers for departmental programs may be subject to a $5 transfer and $7 refund administrative processing charge. Requests for refunds must be made within two weeks following a particular program.

Blue Spring Parks & Recreation must be notified by the end of the following business day in order to request a refund or transfer of ball field rentals that are rained out. If a program is canceled or session dates and/or times are altered by Blue Springs Parks & Recreation, we will be happy to process a full refund. For ticket sales involving trips or theme park attractions, all sales are final.

PARKS PROGRESS In 2017, Blue Springs residents approved a 1/2- cent sales tax for five years which has been a catalyst to the improvements made throughout the community to our parks.

With the end of the original five-year park sales tax in 2022, the department went back to voters for approval to extend the 1/2 cent sales tax with no sunset. The voters of Blue Springs passed the extension of the park sales tax with an overwhelming positive response, an 80 percent YES vote. The renewal of the park sales tax allows annual funding to be allocated to maintain current facilities including playgrounds, shelters, trails, athletic fields, tennis courts, roads, restrooms and other facilities. This renewal also allowed for the construction of Blue Surf Bay Waterpark.

The sales tax will provide funding for the development and construction of the new Southwest Park, located along the north side of Wyatt Road and west of 7 Highway. The department’s intention is not just to build new facilities, but also ensure maintenance needs are met.

VESPER HALL COMMUNITY CENTER OVERVIEW Vesper Hall is a nationally accredited community center offering a variety of activities for the public, with a focus on individuals ages 50 and up. Congregate meals are served M-F (see page 26).

Recurring programs are drop-in; there is no membership to the facility. Many Blue Springs Parks & Recreation special events are held here as well. With ample parking, large rooms and proximity to Rotary Park, it makes a great venue for weddings and celebrations too!

ADAMS POINTE GOLF CLUB OVERVIEW Adams Pointe Golf Club is an 18-hole championship public golf course. It was designed by noted local architect, Don Sechrest. The course is skillfully carved out of forest and wetlands in the challenging front nine, while the back nine offers scenic links-style golf with dramatic elevation changes.

February, March & April | Virtual | $10 per session Our take on the hit cooking show, Nailed It!, is back with a holiday twist! On the first Monday of each month, contestants will receive a recipe. You’ll have one week to recreate it and submit photos of your finished product. All submissions will be posted to BSPR’s Facebook page for community voting, and the treat with the most likes in one week will win a prize!

Take the field in our recreational soccer league! Teams are coed and led by volunteer coaches. Players learn through five weeks of practice and play in eight weeks of games. Games at played at Hidden Valley Sports Complex on Saturdays beginning April 11.

Youth Recreational Baseball

Batter up! Recreational baseball returns spring 2026 for kids ages 5-10. Practice begins the week of March 30 and the eight-game season begins the week of April 27. T-Ball games will be Tuesday or Thursday, Machine and Kid Pitch games will be Monday or Wednesday. Games are played at various parks in Blue Springs.

Youth Competitive Softball

Competitive softball teams are invited to join our Spring Competitive League! 10U, 12U, 14U, and HS divisions are offered. Each team will play ten games over five weeks of doubleheaders. Games begin April 30 and are played on Thursdays at Hidden Valley Sports Complex at 6 and 7:30 p.m. One registration per team.

Intro to Martial Arts

New!

Intro to Martial Arts is a six-week program that teaches fundamental techniques, including strikes, blocks, kicks and basic form. Taught by experienced instructors in a supportive environment, this class is perfect for those new to martial arts. Held at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex every Monday and Thursday for 12 total classes. For ages 5-13. $50 for CRCRC members, $60 for public.

CAMPS & DAY PLAY CAMP PROGRAMS Spring Break Camp

Come on down to BSPR’s game show-themed Spring Break Camp! It’s five days full of activities, friendship and play for kids ages 5-12. Swimming days, field trips, and guest speaker days included. Held at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex. Fee includes before and after care.

Summer Day Camp

Summer Day Camp details will be released later this spring! Blue Springs Summer Day Camp runs late May to mid-August, providing a safe, engaging and affordable way for kids to spend their summer. Each week brings a new theme, ensuring there’s always something new and exciting on the schedule. Multiple field trips and swim days per week! Opt-in for swim lessons to make sure they’re water-ready for the summer. Summer Day Camp is held at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex and is designed for kids ages 5-12. Early Bird Registration opens March 1!

DAY PLAY PROGRAMS Toddler Time

Join us for Toddler Time at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex every first and third Friday of the month, January through April! Children five and under can enjoy a fun space to play and socialize with kids their own age from 10 a.m. to noon. The first Friday session will take place on Court 1 and the third Friday session will take place at the indoor splash pad.* *Admission to Toddler Time at the splash pad only includes access to the splash pad. Other natatorium amenities are not included.

No pre-registration required.

School Out Days are the perfect child care solution for days when the classrooms are closed.

Games, activities and time at the indoor waterpark are included! This program is for children ages 5-12 and is held at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex. School Out Days align with the Blue Springs School District Calendar.

Homeschool Engage

Homeschool Engage provides engaging activities and social opportunities for homeschool families in our community!

Sessions are open to the following age groups: Infants & Toddlers (3 months-5 years), Elementary School Ages (K-4th grade), Middle School Ages (5th-8th grade) and High School Ages (9th-12th grade). All sessions are held at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex.

NOTE: There are no planned activities for the High School age group. They can use the designated area at their leisure during the session.

Adult Softball

BSPR’s Adult Softball League is ASA sanctioned and officiated with ASA-certified umpires. Single-header divisions play six games over six weeks, double-header divisions play ten games over five weeks. All games are played at Wilbur Young Park. Games begin the week of March 17!

Adult Pickleball

Join the pickleball hype! Our spring league offers divisions for varying skill levels and runs indoors or outdoors. The indoor league plays at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex and the outdoor league plays at Ward Park. Both leagues play on Sundays.

Put your skills to the test! Join us for a morning of competition at our Adult Pickleball Tournament.

Divisions will be based on skill level. All teams will play three pool play games with two sets of rally scoring.

Then, all teams will compete in a single-elimination tournament. The tournament will be held at the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex. No membership required to participate!

MEAL PROGRAMS Weekday Meal Service

Chef-prepared meals are served at Vesper Hall Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A $3.50 donation is suggested for those ages 60 and up and for those with disabilities. A fee of $6.50 is required for those ages 59 and under.

Reservations must be made by 2 p.m. at least one day prior to meal service to guarantee a meal. Patrons without a reservation are served at noon if meals are available. All cancellations must be made prior to the day of the reservation.
