ABOUT THIS GUIDE
Play Naturally, Blue Springs Parks & Recreation’s activity guide, is released three times per year: Winter/Spring (early January), Summer (early May), and Fall (early August). It is a digital and print publication containing all upcoming programs and events from the department, and includes links to relevant webpages. As program details may change throughout the course of the season, we recommend checking our website and Blue Springs Parks & Recreation social media pages for timely program updates. This guide is available to download on the Activity Guide page of our website. Print copies are available at City Hall, the Carson Ross Community Recreation Complex, Vesper Hall and the Adams Pointe Golf Course Clubhouse.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Blue Springs Parks & Recreation strives to provide the highest quality recreational activities possible. It is the department’s desire that each customer be satisfied with the recreational activities in which they participate. If a customer is not satisfied, corrective efforts will be made to improve the experience. Each specific request or inquiry is reviewed by staff for its own individual circumstances.
If necessary, we can arrange for one of the following to occur (full or prorated): repeat the activity at no charge, receive credit that can be applied to any other activity at no charge or receive a refund. Requests for refunds and transfers for departmental programs may be subject to a $5 transfer and $7 refund administrative processing charge. Requests for refunds must be made within two weeks following a particular program.
Blue Spring Parks & Recreation must be notified by the end of the following business day in order to request a refund or transfer of ball field rentals that are rained out. If a program is canceled or session dates and/or times are altered by Blue Springs Parks & Recreation, we will be happy to process a full refund. For ticket sales involving trips or theme park attractions, all sales are final.

FIVE WAYS TO PRACTICE WATER SAFETY THIS SUMMER
2.
Double-check your life jackets are Coast Guard approved.
Look for a USCG approval number on the inside of the jacket. Remember that inflatables can deflate and are not reliable as life-saving devices.
4.
Develop water safety skills.
Swimming is not an instinctive ability for humans. All children and adults should learn crucial skills for being in and around the water from certified, experienced instructors.
1.
Actively supervise children ages five and under.
Children this age are at a higher risk of drowning, even in bathtubs. Avoid distractions and stay near your child while they are in the water.
3. Shop for bright swimwear and life jackets.
Easily visible water apparel can be crucial in open water like lakes and oceans.
5. Choose areas and facilities with lifeguards.
Even Olympic swimmers have lifeguards! Choose places with lifeguards on duty. If your location does not have lifeguards, ensure someone knows where you are and can call for help if needed.

From left to right (above), the pieces are Soccer Ball by Michell Hoffman located at City Hall, Guardian of the Goal located along Adams Dairy Parkway and Aerial Duel located at Pink Hill Park, both by Ryan Pedersen, and Out of the Blue by Clark Martinek at the Hidden Valley Sports Complex soccer fields. The exhibit will be on-view through April 2027!
Blue Springs Public Art Guide on the Bloomberg Connects app
Explore Jackson County’s largest public art collection in a new way this summer! The Blue Springs Public Art Commission launched a new digital guide, the first for a municipal public art collection in Missouri, on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app created by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Bloomberg Connects makes public art across the city accessible for both on-site and off-site exploration through photos, audio, written descriptions and an interactive map. The platform can be translated into nearly 60 languages. Bloomberg Connects offers free digital guide creation to cultural organizations around the world and is part of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ longstanding commitment to supporting digital innovation in the arts. PARKS PROGRESS
ROTARY PARK
The playground by Vesper Hall was recently demolished after serving the community for nearly 30 years. Over time, wear on slides, handrails and platforms has accumulated, signaling that the structure has reached the end of its lifespan.
Soon, the space will be transformed with a brand-new playground that reflects features important to our community today, including swings, shaded seating and play areas, and an accessible design. The Volo Aire design by Landscape Structures is the first of its kind in the state of Missouri and. This project marks the ninth playground upgrade completed through the Parks Sales Tax Program, continuing a long-term effort to enhance parks across the system. Construction is expected to wrap up in early summer.
CENTRAL PARK
At Central Park, clearing has begun around the pond to prepare for a future paved walking path, creating a new opportunity to experience the park’s natural environment. Central Park is part of the city’s broader downtown revitalization efforts and is being reimagined as a more active gathering and recreation space. The addition of the trail is phase one, with future phases aimed at supporting both everyday use and community events in the heart of Blue Springs. Central Park is located at SW Walnut Street and SW Tenth Street.
