STATEMENT

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION The Blue Springs Parks & Recreation Department strives to provide the highest quality recreational activities possible. It is the department’s desire that each customer be satisfied with the recreational activities in which they participate. If a customer is not satisfied, corrective efforts will be made. Each specific request or inquiry is reviewed by staff for its own individual circumstances. If necessary, we can arrange for one of the following to occur (full or prorated): repeat the activity at no charge, receive credit that can be applied to any other activity at no charge or receive a refund. Requests for refunds and transfers for departmental programs may be subject to a $5 transfer and $7 refund administrative processing charge. Request for refunds must be made within two weeks following a particular program. The Parks & Recreation Department Office must be notified by the end of the following business day in order to request a refund or transfer of ball field rentals that are rained out. If a program is canceled or session dates and/or times are altered by the Parks & Recreation Department, we will be happy to process a full refund. For ticket sales involving trips or theme park attractions, all sales are final.

Participants will get the Heartsaver certification for Basic CPR, AED Training and Infant/Child CPR. This Heartsaver course is intended for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for the job, regulatory or other requirements. The training is NOT the “Healthcare Provider” course (AKA BLS or basic life support), it’s the Heartsaver course which is designed for the lay person. Registration deadline is May 26th.

TIMES VARY | AGES U6 TO U13 HIDDEN VALLEY PARK | $60 Youth Soccer is back! Previously known as the Blue Springs Soccer Association, this youth league is open for boys and girls U6-U13. This is an 8 game season for youth soccer. All divisions are coed and the age cutoff is determined by their birth year. This program allows a wide age range to play recreation soccer. Registration fee includes all equipment. Practices will be Monday-Friday and games will be played on Saturday’s at Hidden Valley Park. Each participant and coach will receive a shirt and a trophy. Registration deadline is July 19th.

TIMES VARY | AGES 3-4 BLUE SPRINGS PARK | $45 Batter-up! This 5 week program is designed to introduce the basic fundamentals of sports for children ages 3-4 years old. The main goal is to learn the game and have fun building friendships in a non-threatening environment. Equal participation is a guarantee. T-ball will feature three weeks of instructional stations, followed by the final two weeks of organized gameplay. Children must be 3-4 years old at the start time of the program to register. 6 TO 7 P.M. - AGES 4TH - 5TH GRADE | 7 TO 8 P.M. - AGES 6TH - 7TH GRADE BLUE SPRINGS FIELDHOUSE | $45 FOR 4TH - 5TH GRADE, $55 FOR 6TH - 7TH GRADE This is a 5-week program where the girls meet once per week on a Monday evening. Basic drills and skills will be taught in a controlled environment with experienced coaches. This program is catered towards those will little to no volleyball experience looking to see if it is something they may be interested in pursuing in the future. The age groups are split 4th-5th grade and 6th-7th grade. 4th-5th grade will meet for an hour, 6th-7th grade will meet for 1.5 hours. Each participant will receive a program shirt as well as a medal at the completion of the program. Registration deadline is March 29th.

This is a 5-week volleyball program designed for 3rd and 4th graders where the girls meet once per week on a Monday evening. Basic drills will be taught using stations the first three weeks. The final two weeks will be spent playing organized scrimmage games. A program shirt and medal will be provided as well as a snack and drink at the end of each session. Our Fitness Center offers a great variety of free weights, cardio equipment including treadmills, Powermill steppers, ellipticals and Woodway treadmills. Our Spin Studio includes 26 spin bikes with MyRide Technology for instructor led classes and new video led classes for use on your time. Our friendly fitness attendants help provide a safe and clean environment and are always available to answer your questions.

FIT3D PROSCANNER This innovative body scanner captures a 3D, 360 degree image of your body and extracts the most commonly used measurements to track fitness progress. The Fit3D web platform securely stores your scanned images and data allowing users to track their fitness progress by comparing side by side images of their body. Each member can take advantage of this program two times for free!

Kids ages 3 months to 10 years old can play for up to 2 hours per day. They will enjoy creating arts and crafts, interacting with other children, playing games, Xbox, movies and so much more! Space is available on first come, first served basis.

6:30 P.M. | AGES 16+ BLUE SPRINGS FIELDHOUSE | $8 FIELDHOUSE MEMBERS, $10 NON-MEMBERS Restorative Yoga allows for one to relax deeply helping to balance out their fast paced life. Deep breathing and calming exercises during class balance the central nervous system allowing the blood pressure and emotions to slow down, putting your body at a healthier state. Restorative yoga also offers the benefit of increased flexibility as the body is giving in to gravity and not over exerting itself making the class accessible to everyone. Vesper Hall is a nationally accredited Community Center that offers a variety of activities for individuals ages 50 and up that like to stay social, healthy and active.

WEEKLY NUTRITIONAL LUNCH

Served Monday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. A $3.50 donation is suggested for ages 60 and up and for those who are disabled. A fee of $5.75 is required for age 59 and younger. HOME-DELIVERED MEALS

Available for home-bound individuals in Blue Springs and Lake Tapawingo who are 60 years and older or disabled persons age 18-59. Meals delivered Monday-Friday and a $3.50 donation is suggested. Contact Vesper Hall to receive more information. Meals programs are cosponsored by Mid-America Regional Council. Federal funds assist in the cost of meal planning and preparation.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

The City of Blue Springs offers transportation services for residents 60 years and older and adults with disabilities ages 18-59. The City contracts with OATS Transportation Services for medical and/or shopping trips within Blue Springs. Door-to-door pick-up and return to Vesper Hall 50-Plus Community Center for lunch is co-sponsored by Mid-America Regional Council. Buses can accommodate up to two wheel chairs and nine other passengers.

Due to Covid-19 and Jackson County Guidelines we will be able to open our doors with some restrictions in place. We will still practice social distancing, will require you to sign in and out every time you visit our facilities, and we will be disinfecting every time a new wave of people come in. We will also be limiting our water aerobic classes to 18 participants per class. Lap swimming will be limited to 12 swimmers per hour. A new procedure will be that each person wanting to attend water aerobics or lap swim will be required to call ahead and reserve a spot. If you are wanting to attend multiple classes be sure to sign up for each class. We will start taking reservations every Thursday.
