Meet MAYC's Basketmaking Expert

Meet Frances Shirley

The Mary Ann Young Center basketmaking group is led by Frances Shirley. After retiring it only made sense for Frances to share her love of basketmaking with others. Over the past five years several baskets made at MAYC have won top awards at the Minnesota State Fair. Everyone is welcome to join the basketmaking group to try out this craft. It is surprisingly easy and fun to do, especially with the friendly group of creative folks who gather together at MAYC the second and forth Mondays at 10AM. There is a mixture of beginner and expert basket makers working at their own pace, and all are willing to share their techniques. There are no two baskets the same with uniqueness ranging from practical to artistic. All tools and supplies are provided, with a small fee for your personal basket supplies. Come to join in on the fun.
