Family State Fair Day Thursday, August 20, 10am-2pm, $5 Join us for a fun-filled Family State Fair Day at MAYC sponsored by the Blaine Festival Committee. Enjoy an afternoon of classic state fair traditions with delicious fair treats, games, live music, crafts, and activities for all ages. Spend quality time together creating new memories while celebrating the joy of community and family.

Share memories, enjoy friendly competitions, or simply relax with loved ones. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Celebrate a day of laughter, connection, and blue-ribbon fun!

Family State Fair Day Entertainment Spend a fun-filled Family State Fair Day enjoying great music performed by our very own Donald and his son Donny, a talented father-and-son duo bringing you the best of classic country, country rock, and a few original songs from MAYC.

Donald introduced his son Donny to the guitar at a young age, sparking a musical journey they have shared ever since. From rocking out on electric guitar in local bands to creating memorable acoustic performances as a father-son duo, their chemistry on stage is something special. Upcoming Trips & Travel Glensheen Mansion and Lunch Thursday, September 24, 7:30am-5:30pm, $120 Enjoy a guided one hour tour featuring stories of the Congdon family and others who lived and worked at Glensheen Mansion, along with time to explore the beautiful grounds. Lunch will be at Blackwoods in Duluth, with lunch choices of meatloaf and mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie, a Cobb salad with crispy chicken, or a patty melt with fries. Nonalcoholic drinks included. A quick stop at Tobies will provide time to purchase bakery favorites, including huge cinnamon and caramel rolls.

Arsenic and Old Lace at Sidekick Theater Wednesday, October 7, 9:30am-4:30pm, $120 What do you do when your eccentric family has actual skeletons in the closet? Mortimer Brewster may be the only sane member of his screwball family. The comedy set in 1940s Brooklyn will leave you laughing-and saying no to the elderberry wine!

Lunch will be before the show, a creamy chicken breast, with roasted red potatoes, glazed carrots, coleslaw, dinner roll, assorted desserts, and coffee or hot tea.

Annie at Chanhassen Dinner Theater Wednesday, October 28, 9:45am-4:30pm, $120 Little orphan Annie easily wins everyone’s hearts alongside her best pup pal, Sandy. Annie sets her sights on making us grin from ear to ear as she inspires us all! Lunch is included.

Educational Programs Dementia Live Friday, August 14, 10am, free Dementia Live® offers a unique perspective on dementia and the aging process. Participants gain a heightened awareness of the challenges of living with dementia and leave with practical tips and tools to improve communication and connection.

Cooking with Glo Friday, August 14, 1:30pm, $26 Join Glo for a hands-on cooking class where you will prepare a delicious dish from start to finish. Glo will provide all the ingredients, and participants can enjoy their creation during class or take it home to share. Classes are held in the commercial kitchen and are limited to a small number of participants, allowing for plenty of individual instruction and a fun, interactive experience.

Smartphone Photos Tuesday, August 18, 10am, free Learn how to take better photos with your smartphone in this fun and easy-to-follow class! Discover tips for capturing clear, beautiful pictures, using your camera's features, adjusting lighting, and composing great shots. You will also learn simple ways to organize, edit, and share your photos with family and friends. Whether you are new to smartphone photography or want to improve your skills, this class is a great opportunity to build confidence and preserve special memories.

The Sandlot Thursday, August 13, 1pm, free This coming of age sports comedy, set in 1962, follows shy newcomer Scott "Scotty" Smalls as he moves to a new neighborhood and is taken under the wing of local baseball standout Benny Rodriguez. The group of neighborhood boys shares an unforgettable summer of baseball, wild adventures, and a legendary quest to retrieve an autographed Babe Ruth baseball from a fearsome, ball-eating dog known as "The Beast".

Ask your family and friends if they have items they no longer need, as one person’s discards can become another’s treasures.
