Blaine Businesses Celebrate Grand Openings Over the last six months several new Blaine businesses have celebrated grand openings.

Highlighting the list are three businesses that finished construction of new facilities contributing to the growth of Blaine.

Twin Cities Orthopedics Twin Cities Orthopedics celebrated the opening of their new clinic in June. Located at 11225 Ulysses Street, the new 48,000 square foot clinic will provide a local choice for clinical services, surgery, orthopedic urgent care, physical therapy, and hand therapy.

Blaine Anticipating Another Strong Development Year Developers are gearing up for projects in what is anticipated to be another big year of development in Blaine. All sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial and public are going to be busy.

We anticipate Blaine will see over 300 new single family houses built adding over $100 million in value. Several new apartment projects, highlighted by a 192 unit senior apartment developed by Dominium at the corner of 109th Avenue and Lexington Avenue, will add an additional $70 million in multi-family development.

Over 175,000 square feet of new industrial projects are anticipated, highlighted by construction of the new 75,000 square foot global headquarters and research and development facility of Crown Iron Works at 98th Avenue and Naples Street.

An expansion and remodel of Blaine High School, new Anoka-Hennepin elementary school and Eagle Brook Church highlight public sector projects in 2018.

Overall, Blaine is likely to exceed $200 million in new development in 2018. Blaine contributes to more than one-third of all value added by new development in Anoka County and is the largest City in the County with over 65,369 residents.

2018 will bring several major commercial projects.

Invictus Brewery Invictus Brewery and the Tipsy Steer Restaurant opened their doors to the public in May. The brewery, located at 2025 105th Avenue next to the National Sports Center, offers several varieties of beer brewed on-site. The Tipsy Steer restaurant offers residents and visitors to Blaine a new upscale casual dining option!

Two Elementary Schools and Expansions at Blaine High School With growth in Blaine comes the need for school districts to address facility needs.

Blaine is divided into three school districts; Anoka-Hennepin, Spring Lake Park Schools, and Centennial. In 2017, Spring Lake Park Schools broke ground on Centerview Elementary located at the corner of 105th Avenue and Davenport Street near the National Sports Center. The school will be opening in the fall of 2018.

For more information on Spring Lake Park Schools, visit their webpage at www.springlakeparkschools.org Over the last several years the Anoka-Hennepin School District completed a “Fit for the Future� plan to address facility needs throughout the district which was put into motion with the passing of a referendum last fall. The district will be breaking ground on a new elementary school this spring located at the northwest corner of 125th Avenue and Lever Street. The new school will serve approximately 1,000 students in grades K-5. The school will be open for the 2019/2020 school year.

Construction on fieldhouse and fitness expansions, and the front office move, will be in the summer of 2020, with completion set for fall of 2021.

Centennial Schools also completed extensive work in Blaine at Centennial High School and Elementary Schools. Work included upgrades to the media center, gym upgrades and updating classrooms along with outdoor improvements to the parking areas and athletic fields.

2018 Commercial Project Highlights

Lexington Meadows Developed by Wellington Management, this project at the southwest corner of 109th Avenue and Lexington Avenue will start this summer. The 32-acre project will include a 192- unit senior apartment building development by Dominium, along with commercial space available for retail, service, restaurant, grocery, etc.

The Blaine Medical Building Developed by MSP Commercial, located at 11091 Ulysses Street, the Blaine Medical Building is a 34,000-square foot medical office building designed for specialty medical services.

Panera Bread Panera Bread will be constructing a new restaurant near Target in Victory Village off of 109th Avenue. Construction will begin this summer.

Marriot-Fairfield Inn and Suites Hotel Located at 10611 Baltimore Street, this 5-story, 80 room hotel is anticipated to begin this year.

The Imagine Center Located in the Blaine Town Square near City Hall, the Imagine Center is a 16,500-square foot office building. Developed by the owner of Imagine Smiles Dentistry, the building will be the new home for Imagine Smiles along with several other businesses.

Legends of Blaine Dominium will be breaking ground this summer on the Legends of Blaine. This 192-unit, independent senior (50+) apartment complex will provide a mix of one, two, and three bedroom units. The building will include amenities like a community room with fireplace, fitness center, theater room, card/craft room, heated underground parking, and a landscaped outdoor seating area overlooking a pond.

2018 Commercial Project Highlights

Kwik Trip Kwik Trip has three new stores planned in Blaine. They are located at 105th Avenue and Radisson Road, 122nd Avenue and Lexington Avenue, and 117th Avenue and Ulysses Street. The first two are planned to begin in 2018.

Auto Zone and Xperience Fitness The owner of the former K-Mart building, near Northtown, is proposing to remodel the interior and exterior of the building and make extensive site improvements to allow for Auto Zone and Xperience Fitness to occupy a majority of the building.

Tumble Fresh Laundry The City of Blaine Economic Development Authority sold the property at 105th Avenue and University Avenue to a developer who will construct a Tumble Fresh Laundry.

Continued Focus on Redevelopment

Reconstruction Update

105th Avenue Update

The contractor started back to work this spring on the 105th Avenue project. They will complete the installation of all of the utilities and are preparing to complete the northern lanes of the street the beginning of June. A separate landscaping contract has been awarded that will add plantings to the medians and both Plan and the street roundabouts. The 105th Avenue reconstruction project includes two through lanes in each direction as well as raised medians with dedicated left turn lanes at critical intersections. The design also includes two three-leg roundabouts; one will be constructed at the main access to the south campus of the National Sports Center and the other at the new access to the National Sports Center north campus.
