Ruhe Playground Redevelopment Update

Under the leadership of Councilwoman Vanessa Taylor, a committed group of Beaver Falls citizens have been working to re-establish the once vibrant Ruhe Playground. Located along the bike trail on the northern end of 5th Ave. in downtown Beaver Falls, Ruhe playground is tucked in a cool and lush corner of the City. The committee’ s efforts have been fruitful thus far as the City was awarded over $200,000 in grant funding from the County towards this project. After establishing a contract with Widmer Engineering, the next phase of Ruhe Playground development will include electrical work, considerations of a shade structure and the first (but not all!) pieces of playground equipment.

The committee continues to lead the charge on this project with patience and enthusiasm for the end product: A restored playground for our kids!

Public Safety Message

Summertime in the City

The City of Beaver Falls Police Department would like to wish our residents a safe and happy summer.

Please be mindful of the following:

With children being out of school, it will be likely that you will find the youth of the community playing in their neighborhoods during all hours of daylight and not just after school hours. Motorists are asked to use caution and good judgement as they navigate the streets of the City and surrounding communities.

Parents are reminded that streets are for motor vehicles, and it is best not to permit children to play or walk in the roadways.

Reach out to Dir. of Community Development

Rochelle Burks if you ’d like to get involved. 724847-2800 x201

Motorists should also understand that young children on sidewalks and roadsides can be unpredictable and have a narrow focus when it comes to being at play. Children often run into roadways to retrieve balls, toys and the like without thinking of the possibility that a vehicle may be driving through.

We would also like to remind parents that the curfew in the City limits and all areas patrolled by the City of Beaver Falls Police Department for minors that are not accompanied by their parent or guardian is 10:00 p.m. Also, all City Parks are closed from dusk to dawn.

Have a great summer!
