CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Department Director, Kevin Howard, and Community Development Manager, Tracey Shine, of Housing and Neighborhood Programs on having the opportunity to represent their department and the City of Little Rock by visiting with Congressman French Hill in Washington D.C.!

Congressman Hill:

Friends,

This week, my staff and I had the pleasure of meeting with constituents from across central Arkansas in my Washington, DC office

It was outstanding to see so many central Arkansans in our nation's capital, and I appreciated hearing your perspectives on the issues that matter most in your communities.

In total, my staff and I met with central Arkansans from over 20 organizations, ranging from law enforcement officers and state officials to business leaders and educators

Whether in Washington or back at home in central Arkansas, my focus remains on working for you, ensuring that your voices are represented in Congress.

I want to extend my gratitude to all who made the trip to meet with us this week, and I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me to represent you in Washington

“The Community Development Division was excited to attend the National Community Development Winter Legislative, Policy, And Professional Development Conference in Washington, DC (Feb 3-5) This is an annual conference where practitioners from all over the country get together to share national updates, best practices and engage our legislatures

Every year, I have the pleasure of organizing the Hill visits with Congressional French Hill and Senator John Boozman for the State of Arkansas attendees This year was special because the administration of our 47th President released a memo to interrupt federal grants and contracts that was later rescinded

Our division was able to personally meet with the Congressman & Senator to highlight our current service accomplishments and goals, as well as reminding them about the potential harm to our approved projects and services for our residents and their families based on funding cuts As a bonus, he featured Arkansas attendees in his newsletter”

BREAKING UP

In 2018, the City of Lit expanded foam products with City funds. This includes catering, office supplies, events, etc.

"Styrofoam" is one of the top ten most littered items. It does not biodegrade, but rather breaks down into smaller particles that pollute our natural and built environments. Styrofoam is made from the monomer styrene, which is a suspected human carcinogen and known neurotoxin.
