AUGUST 17

NATIONAL NONPROFIT DAY

2026

Orinda Parks and Recreation would like to celebrate our local non-profit community organizations and recognize their efforts in making Orinda a better place. If you are not familiar with any of these remarkable organizations, please take a moment to learn more by visiting their website included within their information.

Friends of the Orinda Creeks

ONE Orinda

More than three decades of stewardship have established Friends of Orinda Creeks as a driving force in protecting and restoring Orinda’s waterways. The organization traces its roots back to late 1992, when a small group of passionate creek advocates gathered beside the creek at Wagner Ranch Nature Area to discuss the future of local waterways. By early 1993, they had officially adopted the name Friends of Orinda Creeks. Today, the all-volunteer nonprofit remains dedicated to its mission of protecting, preserving, and restoring the health, natural beauty, and ecological function of Orinda’s creeks and tributaries. Friends of Orinda Creeks continues to make a meaningful impact through creek cleanups, habitat restoration projects, and trail improvements. Current priorities include reintroducing rainbow trout to the San Pablo Creek watershed, restoring habitat and expanding public access opportunities along San Pablo Creek in Orinda Village, and helping residents discover the remarkable ecological richness found right in their own community. Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome.

ESTD 2020 Orinda Network for Education (ONE) exists to bridge the gap between public funding and the resources needed to provide an exceptional education for every student in Orinda’s public schools. From TK through 12th grade, ONE helps ensure that students have access to the programs, opportunities, and support that make Orinda schools exceptional. By uniting the fundraising efforts, ONE strengthens and amplifies the collective investment in public education across all six Orinda schools, aligning resources and maximizing their impact for students. Each year, ONE raises critical funds that support outstanding teachers and staff, enrich classroom learning, expand student opportunities, and preserve the educational experiences that would not be possible through state funding alone. These investments help maintain the high standards of academic excellence

Requests less than five days prior to the start of the camp will not be provided (unless approved by Recreation Staff ). Refunds will not be provided after the camp has begun. • Classes: Registration may be cancelled up to five days prior to the scheduled class for a refund, less a processing fee of $5 for credit cards or $20 for checks. Requests less than five days prior to the start of the class will not be provided (unless approved by Recreation Staff ). • Sports Leagues: Any request received after teams have been formed (OYS) and/or shortly before the season starts, is subject to a Sports League Withdrawal Fee of 25%–50% of registration fees (depending on timing), and a processing fee of $5 for credit cards or $20 for checks.
