“I love seeing that I am able to express my love for basketball and share that love with the student body,” said Agarwal. “It truly is the best feeling when you see your friends and family rooting for you.”

The CISD community can continue rooting for Agarwal after he graduates in May 2022, as the star basketball player has committed to attend Stanford University.

“Stanford truly was my dream school, and they offered me a great scholarship,” Agarwal said. “One of my goals in life was to not make my parents pay for college, as they have gone through so much to make me the athlete I am today and have stood with me my whole life.”

“Stanford offered me an opportunity in which I could do what I love while still receiving a great education and allowing me to uphold this goal.”

Off the courts, Agarwal prioritizes his academic career, as he recognizes the importance of education and school as he believes that education is a driving force in society.

“Playing basketball entails a lot of responsibility and time,” said Agarwal, who takes several AP classes. “Besides practice, we work out multiple times a day and focus a lot on strength and agility. Some days I have to miss a workout to put in extra work to study for a test or finish homework.”

Through his achievements and recognitions, Agarwal hopes to encourage young kids to shoot for the stars. He especially wanted to act as a role model for future Asian athletes.

“As an athlete of Indian heritage, I never really saw Indian players playing basketball after high school, so I wanted to be different,” said Agarwal. “I wanted to show my peers that we can do it too.”

Agarwal is excited to see what comes next in his career, as he is eager to take his roots of empathy, respect and teamwork to the next level at Stanford University.
