May 25th 2026 Vol. 13
This past Saturday was CIFSDS Section Championships! It was also the last “regular” meet of the season as this week is State Championships where the fastest, strongest and best athletes in all of California compete!
We have a total of 4 athletes on their way to State Championships this upcoming Friday and Saturday (May 29th and 30th) at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California.The athletes competing this weekend are
● Leed Smoole for the 100m and 200m
● Chiara Dailey for the 1600m and 3200m
● Janae Stanley Castillo for the Shot Put
● Anastasia Volkov for the High Jump
It has been a very long time since we have had this many athletes from La Jolla High going to compete at State, we are extremely proud of everyone going and we know they will give their all and show how strong our Vikings and Viqueens are!

unified team compete and train at the highest level possible. It was incredible to see so many personal records for the juniors and seniors and a lot of impressive first season times from the younger athletes trying out track for the first time or maybe coming back for a second season now knowing what it takes to compete well in this sport.
To the parents of the younger athletes, please encourage them to come out again next season. If they feel like they did well, we do offer pre-season weight and plyometric training so they stay ready. If they feel like they did not do so great, there are many other events where they could succeed. We have had past athletes say they wish they tried another event just for fun or they also say that there was a chance another event could have taken them to the big invitationals and meets.
We will always take an athlete that is actually going to try and put in effort. Please always encourage them and we will continue to do the same.
