As we all know, the trip to the gas station can be such a hassle. Whether it is the long wait for the next stall, long line at the cashier or even the normal Guam traffic just to drive to the gas station. As you drive off after going through those frustrating scenarios, you notice the MIL (malfunction indication light) is suddenly illuminated. The MIL light will illuminate when there is a problem.
First thoughts would be, in no particular order, “What could this mean?!?!”, “I just got my car serviced!” Or “My car is brand new!” You start to wonder how much it will cost to fix the problem.
You inspect the obvious in the engine compartment and everything seems to check out ok. You back track and remember that the last thing you did was fill up the gas tank. But, how can that be relevant to the situation, right?
Nowadays, the fuel filler cap requires a certain amount of clicks when being tightened. If failed to do so, the MIL light will illuminate. A faulty fuel filler cap may also be a factor in regards to the MIL light. The cap may seem in good working condition on the outside but the internal
structure can be faulty, it may be hard to determine. Sometimes, something as small as cap may seem extravagant.
You can simply visit our parts department and purchase a new Genuine fuel filler cap from one our knowledgeable parts staff. If you are not sure how to diagnose the problem, you can bring your vehicle in our service department and have it diagnosed and installed by one of our ASE certified technicians.
