Professionals INTERIOR DESIGN:
The finely detailed Spence home, designed by Imaging Spence and built by Micheal Beauchimen was inspired by travels to historic houses, public buildings, national parks, European castles, wonders of the ancient world and a passion for independent study. Unique spaces include a vaulted stone cave with ancient pictographs juxtaposed with high tech TV, famed trial lawyer Gerry Spence’s favorite place to enjoy football and boxing. Carefully curated collections of 17th-19th century furniture and textiles mixed with contemporary pieces and personal art fill the home.

Tradition collides with modern conveniences in one of two classic gabled farm style homes in the Gill addition, a historic Jackson neighborhood where some of Jackson’s first homesteaders still live. Farmer Payne Architects brought a modern twist to the simple design making these new homes elegant and contemporary. Exterior wood screened decks create private outdoor spaces off each bedroom. “The interior great room has 20 foot ceilings and is really light and open,” says Architect Jamie Farmer.

The house is a thoughtful collaboration between Enclosure Studio, Trauner Fay Designs, New West Building Company and Frederick Landscaping. Exterior barnwood, tongue in groove wood joints, open iron railings, reclaimed-pine ceilings, paved rock and indoor and outdoor fireplaces provide a intimacy that is inspired by nature.

Overview This stop on the tour represents a unique opportunity to meet one of Jackson’s favorite local artists and to see the home, studio and environment that inspires her art. For forty-five years Laurie Thal has loved working with molten glass, fusing colorful sheets of glass and casting liquid glass. Everyday brings a new creative challenge, a new avenue of expression, a new opportunity to bring beauty and joy into the lives of others. From the very beginning, Laurie was drawn to the spontaneity, the heat, the passion and focus of blowing glass. Her art reflects the peace and harmony of the Teton Mountain range. Enjoy this rare glimpse into a unique valley life richened by place.
