Internship of Design Thinking for Innovation “The Roadmap of Design Strategy for Hong Kong Manufacturing SMEs” Hong Kong Design Council Federation of Hong Kong Industry This ongoing partnership aims to provide SMEs with an innovative toolkit which lays out the different scalers and stages of design strategy. The toolkit also acts as a benchmark for SMEs to self-evaluate their own level of competence on design strategy. My involvements include research on design strategy and articulating the tool kit.

Co-founder Deep Food Deep Food is an aspiring startup that creates various experimental narrative food design with an aim to explore Asian design identity. Projects include collaborations with design brands and craftsmen with results ranging from dining experience design, pop up store design to tableware set design. During these food design projects a full process of design development is invloved, including design research, ideation and execution. As a co-founder I am also involved in entrepreneurial duties including setting up brand mission and vision, brand strategy, sales and marketing strategy, business development and preparing funding proposals.

Part-time Student Helper-Graphic Design Pao Yue Kong Library, HK PolyU Redesigned all signages for the library, including a research on issues of previous signages, a visual language and styling guideline for a full set of siganges. The design is currently in use across the university library as the first ever batch of signages with a consistent design.

Apprentice Maker Bay Ltd. Maker Bay is Hong Kong’s largest maker space focused on social and environmental impacts. During the apprenticeship I contributed in making an eco-material library and ran a platform to encourage makers to use sustainable materials. Joining a venture of graduates from the Royal College of Arts, we launched Natural Factory.org and its community of practice through hosting info-sessions about the initiative. I also designed and curated a visual identity, story telling and branding guideline for Citizen Science Faire at PMQ, a four-day faire at PMQ courtyard. The faire is the company’s annual flagship event to the general public.

Product Design Freelancer Protege Inc. Worked under supervision of the consultancy’s founder on a commercial client project of a smart jumping rope. In this fast paced project I generated in depth trend analysis and design insights, was involved in design ideation and created concept designs with CMF details. Product Design Intern & Contract Display Design Trainee Mattel Asia Pacific Sourcing Ltd. The Product Design Internship programme involved all stages of Product Design of Fisher Price Toys. Involved in the control drawing drafting and communication with CAD draftsmen for various Little People playsets. Three of the projects are currently in market, available on Amazon, Alibaba and in Toys”R”Us. The Display Design Trainee programme involved assisting the latest product showcase of Mattel to buyers of the toy industry. I contributed to display design that works in collaboration with toy designers and design managers from various Fisher Price Units.

Product Design Intern Innermost Ltd. During the three months internship I assisted the design team in design development and production: from research on lighting, ideation, CAD concept visualization, drafting manufacturing specification sheets, to creating sample reviews and installation guides. I contributed to the design development of Core pendant and Bolt wall light. Core pendant is showcased at Maison and Objet, Paris 2015; Salone De Mobile, Milan 2016; London Design Week, 2016. Bolt wall light was a runner up at NYC X Design Award 2016.

Product Design Intern Huzi Design (Young Once Limited) In the internship I was involved in all stages of their product design from research, idea generation, concept development, model making, and communicating with factories. During the period I generated numerous stationery, lighting, toy and time piece concepts. The concepts are developed to an interactive lighting proposal that includes CAD drawing, CMF details as well as production cost estimation; and a soft toy project that includes paper patterns drafting, prototyping and sourcing of fabric materials. I also conducted an in-depth brand analysis and research study including competitors bench marking, brand DNA and brand strategy roadmap.

Product Design Intern Alchemist Creations In the internship I was responsible for their sub-brand &care, from market positioning,brand strategy, corporate identity, packaging and product design. &care is a local brand and a social enterprise of leather goods. I designed a full set of leather fashion accessories including phone case, wallet, tote bag and card holder. I produced paper mock up, leather pattern and communicated with craftsmen to deliver the full set of production pilot.

Design Study Trip in Osaka, Kyoto and Uji Self-organised Attended the Gion Festival’s Yamaboko Junkō in Kyoto, the most remarkable traditional event in Japan. Experienced an authentic Japanese tea ceremony at Taihoan tea house, Uji. Immersed in the culture of Wabi-Sabi while visiting cultural spots in the old town, shrines and temples of Kyoto. Economics Summer Programme at Cambridge Girton College, Univesity of Cambridge Studied Economics in this one-month summer exchange. Course content included History of Economic Theories, Philosophy of Economics and study of Nobel Prize Winners in Economics. Visited the Design Museum, the V&A Museum, Royal Academy of Art Summer Show and other Art and Design related exhibitions in Cambridge, Coventry and London.
