As President of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, it’s a joy to see the growth in the vibrant City of Montgomery. Montgomery is a charming community that exemplifies small town intimacy but also offers access to a diverse business collective. Supporting the business community and citizens is the fundamental building block of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. Engaging members through Lunch, Learn and Leads events, after-hours networking opportunities, business spotlights, and grand opening celebrations are a few initiatives the Chamber is involved in throughout the year. Chamber members can access member-only benefits, receive discounts at local merchants, and receive special group purchasing rates. One benefit of being a member of the Chamber is access to the Southwest Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA) benefits. The SOCA Benefit Plan is a multiple-employer arrangement that allows small businesses to join together to share in the overall claims risk. By being part of a large, self-funded pool, businesses can provide benefits to their owners and employees that otherwise may not be an affordable option. The chamber is a resource for members. The member directory is a resource that consumers go to when they have a business need and all members are in the directory. By collaborating with leaders from the Sycamore Schools and City of Montgomery, the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce works to keep members and consumers informed about upcoming events and opportunities to showcase their business and participate in local events. This year, the Chamber awarded three $500 scholarships to local students at the annual Business Expo. Lastly, I’m excited to share that the annual dinner will be held at a new location this year. The first Montgomery Inn restaurant, founded by locals Ted and Matula Gregory, opened here in 1951. It wasn’t long until Matula’s BBQ sauce and ribs drew everyone from Johnny Cash and June Carter to Bob Hope and Britney Spears.

Montgomery City Council and staff are committed to being change agents in destigmatizing mental illness and increasing awareness, advocacy, and education of mental health and wellbeing. The City has created programming, content, and outreach efforts to support.

Bethesda North Hospital is the City’s Top Employer and Cincinnati’s leader in acute heart attack care.

For the 30th consecutive year, Montgomery was named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. They have also received the Foundation’s “Growth Award” for 27 consecutive years.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded the City the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023. This award is a great honor for the City of Montgomery, as it is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The year 2024 represents the 28th consecutive year the City has received this award.

MONTGOMERY QUARTER CONTINUES TO GROW, WITH NEW ELEMENTS OPENING SOON.

Progress continues on the Montgomery Quarter project, which is now in Phase 2 of development. Located at the southern gateway of Historic Montgomery, the Montgomery Quarter has a two-phase plan of development and growth, wherein residents, officials, and city planners are working together to build a brighter and better Montgomery.

The development team of Brandicorp, Neyer Properties, and Jeffery R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc., is working to bring this $150 million mixed-use development project to life, with several key components slated for completion this fall. The Hotel Rambler, a midcentury inspired hotel from the Tapestry by Hilton brand, is currently under construction with a targeted open date of November 1, 2025. The boutique hotel will feature several event spaces, a swanky lobby bar called Sidecar, and 128 luxury guest rooms.

More recently, new partner Hills Properties cemented approvals for the construction of 239 luxury apartments

along Cameron Lane, extending to the roundabout at Montgomery Road and Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. Site work and construction of underground parking garages for the apartments is anticipated to begin by the end of 2025. The development

team has taken great care to respect the historic character of nearby Historic Montgomery and to integrate their designs into the Montgomery Quarter project. Phase 2 will also include additional restaurants, entertainment, public gathering spaces, and more.

Work on the Montgomery Monument is also underway. Located in the center of the Montgomery Road and Cross County Highway roundabout, this monument and associated landscaping will serve as an unofficial gateway into the community. The Montgomery Monument project is expected to be complete this fall.

The Vintage Club has gained approval on the final phase of its development: The Hillside District. This thoughtfully designed residential area will bring 24 new homes to the southern hillside behind The Christ Hospital medical office building, centered around a park that enhances the neighborhood’s walkability and community vibe.

The development’s homes will feature traditional architectural styles to complement the existing community, with multiple floor plans available: brownstone-style townhomes and detached homes with first-floor primary suites and walk-out lower levels. The Hillside District continues the Vintage

Club’s commitment to pedestrianfriendly design. Residents will enjoy greenspaces, parks, outdoor gathering spaces, and a network of sidewalks and trails connecting to nearby neighborhoods and businesses. City Manager Brian Riblet calls the project

Trillium at Twin Lakes consists of three buildings with 30 luxury condominiums. The condominiums range from 2,100 to 2,367 square feet and include two

bedrooms, two full baths, a separate study, and a dining room. Common spaces include a community room, fi tness area, a fi re pit with seating, a dog run, and other amenities.

A private drive from Schoolhouse Lane named Don Neyer Way will recognize Neyer’s legacy of contributions at Twin Lakes and to the Greater Cincinnati Region. He served as CEO of Al Neyer, Inc. (now known as Merus). Neyer served his country as a corporal during the Korean War and received a Commendation medal. The lifelong Rotarian also sat on over 15 nonprofit boards well into his 90s. The Wilder–Swaim House is one of five locations in Montgomery listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s located at Swaim Park, which has a delightful loop perfect for jogging or walking—and it’s pup-friendly, too.

In total, there are six parks, playgrounds (be sure to check out the brand-new playground at Dulle Park ), sports fields, a nature preserve, and even a fishing pond within the City; the parks are connected by more than 30 miles of sidewalks, allowing easy access. These public spaces host beloved annual events such as Montgomery’s Bastille Day, Harvest Moon, and Holiday in the Village festivals.

Of course, these businesses are just the beginning. Between the Montgomery Quarter and historic district in Old Montgomery, there’s always something great to discover.

Montgomery continues its commitment to providing top-notch mental health services for community members. In 2024, the City partnered with Care Solace, an organization that serves as a liaison between first responders, justice systems, social agencies, and mental health providers. Between June 2024 and May 2025, more than 2,000 users took advantage of Care Solace’s services. With a team of more than 500 Care Companions available to assist 24/7 in over 200 languages, Care Solace can quickly connect Montgomery residents to mental health care and substance use treatment at no cost. The City of Montgomery has also partnered with the Church of the Saviour to host a panel discussion on addiction and substance abuse from a

personal and professional perspective on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 6:30–8:30 p.m. The presentation featured personal stories of addiction from those living with addiction abuse disorder and their family members. Mental health professionals also weighted in and offered insight into substance use disorder and treatment.

In addition to community events, Montgomery’s new Smashing the Stigma podcast takes a holistic look at mental health and what cities can do to support residents. The podcast came in response to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) statistic that 1 in 5 Americans live with a mental health condition. Smashing the Sitgma serves as a lifeline connecting residents with groups and solutions when they need it most.

If you’ve been out and about in Montgomery, you may have noticed a four-legged team member assisting with various duties (or strutting her stuff in a seasonally themed bandana).

Asha is a standard poodle and therapy dog who has been working closely with Montgomery City staff at the Montgomery Safety Center since 2024. While available to all City staff, Tracy Henao, assistant city manager, says Asha is especially helpful to first responders, who face particularly intense challenges as part of the job. “Asha is awesome,” says Henao.
