Local Coordinator CIMSA UI 2020-2021

Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities (CIMSA) is an independent, nationalist, nonpolitical, inclusive, and nonpartisan organization with activitybased programs. CIMSA was established on May 6th, 2001, by medical students from Indonesia. By now, CIMSA has spread across 27 universities in Indonesia with more than 10,000 members. CIMSA consists of six standing committees focusing on issues of medical education, reproductive health and rights including HIV/AIDS, human rights and peace, public health, and professional and research exchanges. CIMSA embodies a vision and mission called “Empowering Medical Students’, Improving Nation’s Health.” CIMSA commits to support Sustainable Development Goals as the global agenda and is affiliated with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA) globally.

CIMSA UI is one of the six founding fathers of CIMSA. For 20 years, CIMSA UI has carried out various activities on a local, regional, national, and international scale. In the 2020-2021 tenure, CIMSA UI has accomplished all of its activities during the pandemic, making it a multifaceted challenge to change various concepts from offline activities to online. Members also could not experience offline projects firsthand. However, these obstacles did not break the enthusiasm to gain many achievements and impacted medical students and society. This tenure has gone through rapid development and earned various achievements, both among CIMSA Indonesia and FKUI. In the upcoming to the end of 2020-2021 tenure, I’m Dzaky, as the Local Coordinator of CIMSA UI 2020-2021, proudly presents CAROTID. This magazine contains our activities, achievements, and adventures. I sincerely hope that by reading this 3rd edition of CAROTID, the readers will be inspired and motivated to empower medical students and create a healthier Indonesia.

HEALTH COLLABORATIVE DAY

I

n order to celebrate the national health collaboration day on October 12th, SCOME CIMSA UI held an online talk show related to health collaboration in COVID-19 pandemic. The speakers were from healthcare workers (a doctor, a dentist, and a nurse). They agreed that health collaboration was really important to create patient-centered care. This principle has to be embedded in every healthcare workers mind to give all patients high quality care.

One of the goals through the health collaboration strategy during COVID-19 pandemic is to shorten the patients treatment duration, especially the number of patients in the hospital always increased.

Apart from that, health collaboration will support healthcare workers performances during COVID-19 pandemic through the positive interactions and to create a safer environment for their body immune responses.

From the curative perspective, health collaboration in healthcare workers during COVID-19 pandemic is done by online

clinical meetings to discuss patients cases and treatment options. Beside the curative aspect, health collaboration is also done through the promotive and preventive means, for example by educating patients about COVID-19 and to clarify their misunderstanding about the pandemic.

There is a slight difference in health collaboration before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, selfadjustment and adaptation in every healthcare worker is really a must.

Healthcare workers should be role models and the agents of change for the society and people around them. Beside that, the healthcare workers should be professional in their fields in order to fulfill the patient’s needs and other patients matters. The society, especially the patients family could also contribute to the effectiveness of health collaboration by becoming the patients support systems and also beware of the news or other information spread in the society.

ational Doctor’s Day is celebrated every 24th of October and is regularly celebrated by SCOME CIMSA UI. To raise awareness of National Doctor’s Day, SCOME CIMSA UI held an online talkshow live on instagram and challenge snapgram before the day as pre-event program. The speaker for instagram live was dr. Eva Sri Diana, Sp.P from IDI South Jakarta.

The instagram talkshow is focusing on the struggle of doctors in this COVID-19 pandemic. The challenge snapgram was held on 19th – 21st October 2020 by uploading message for doctor to stay strong during the pandemic because they are one of the front line fighters against the COVID-19 pandemic. The total of challenge snapgram will be exchange for personal protective equipment to the hospital that need a personal protective equipment supply.

The doctors have been fighting against the pandemics for 7 months, so this year SCOME CIMSA UI celebrates National Doctor’s Day by holding a HERO event with the theme “Doctor’s Struggle during the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The obligation to maintain physical distance did not stop SCOME CIMSA UI from appreciating the doctors. SCOME CIMSA UI implements HERO by giving virtual thank you cards to doctors and alumni, not only greeting cards, but flowers are also given without meeting in person.

Apart from that, HERO also held a meeting with dr.

Astuti Giantini, Sp.PK, MPH, as the main director of the University of Indonesia Hospital through zoom meeting. She really appreciated this HERO event, she hoped that the virtual thank you card and flowers given can increase the spirit of doctor in fighting this COVID-19 pandemic.

COPH CIMSA UI held its annual World Mental Health Day celebration in 2020 with a project called Project X: Deep Into You. This year’s theme is “Depression During Pandemic” which intended to encourage us to understand more about depression during these hard times. The series of events began with the online campaign by story Instagram for a week to give out general information about depression and mental health. We closed the online campaign week with Instagram Live talk show with the founder of Sehatmental.id, Ade Binarko. The talk show was talking about “Self-Talk: Mengenali potensi dibalik kekurangan”. We proceed our events in collaboration with Departemen Ilmu Kesehatan Jiwa FKUI-RSCM and Teman Bicara FKUI for Peer Counselor Training, which intended to introduce the general public with the presence of peer counselor and to enlighten people more about how to communicate and help your friends in a non-judgemental way. The Peer Counselor Training began with some Peer Counselor 101 course with dr. Feranindhya, Sp.KJ(K) and followed by a peer counselor workshop by Teman Bicara FKUI in divided breakout rooms.

Our events continued with its climax event, “Mengenali Depresi di Kala Pandemi” Webinar. We talked about “Kenali Depresi Lebih Dalam” and “Depresi dan Kecanduan” with dr. Profitasari, Sp.KJ(K) and Dr. dr. Kristiana Siste, Sp.KJ(K) from Departemen Ilmu Kesehatan Jiwa FKUIRSCM for 3 hours in total.

Lastly, we gave out our E-booklet Curahan Jiwa via Issuu to every people that we could reach. This e-booklet was some bottled-up stories from anonymous that we collected since the online campaign with some quotes and articles about depression and mental health in general. We make this e-booklet to encourage and to comfort people that they are not the only ones going through tough times, that there are a lot of people with the same difficulties just like them. We hoped that this series of events brought by Project X could give light about the escalation of depression during the pandemic.

T

hroughout the world, many teens and young adults do not pay attention to what they consume and their lifestyle. As shown by the questionnaires given before conducting SEMASA “Senang Makan Sehat”, our research shows that the majority of the respondents don’t have proper mealtime, do not have breakfast, lack of consumption of vegetables and fruits but they consume sweets and junk foods at a higher frequency, lack of exercise and inadequate sleep which suggests that a healthy lifestyle hasn’t been applied yet.

SEMASA aims at raising awareness about the dangers of obesity caused by the unhealthy lifestyle in juveniles and encourages them to start applying healthy living as a part of their lifestyle.

The range of activities done to fulfill this goal includes Air Campaigns, Workout Sessions and a One-Day Festival consisting of Piloxing, Festival Booths which has 4 activities, Self Reflection, Games Session, Cooking Demo with Pasar Sayoor, and a limited-seat consultation about nutrition with doctors who are Nutrition Specialists, and finally as the climax of the event, a Talkshow which

focused on Obesity, Nutrition and the application of healthy lifestyle on teenagers and young adults was held with 3 remarkable speakers as our spokespeople, dr. Nurul Ratna Mutu Manikam, MGizi, SpGK; Dewi Astuti, S.GZ, MKM; Ekida Rehan Firmansyah. The majority of the participants states that by attending SEMASA they could reflect more on what was wrong with their diet and focus on improving that aspect.

Through this event, we hope that our participants could get a better understanding of nutrition and the application of healthy lifestyle can turn our lives for the better. As a token of appreciation, we hope that the participants can use the voucher given by one of our partners, Yellow Fit Kitchen, as a platform to jumpstart their way to modifying their diet into a healthier one. Together we can end obesity and improve our quality of life!

I

n an ideal setting, a woman usually plans and prepares for a pregnancy appropriately.

Furthermore, pregnancy is often the most awaited thing by newlyweds. Children complete the family, as children are often considered to fulfill joy and happiness in a family.

However, do you know that unintended pregnancy in Indonesia reached 17,5%?

Besides, there are 420,000 unwanted pregnancy cases in March-September 2020 alone, according to a report issued by National Population and Family Planning Board!

We often sweep this phenomenon under the rug. Nonetheless, unintended pregnancy is a substantial issue that bears critical risks. Unwanted pregnancy defines as a few conditions, such as: • •

The mother does not want to be pregnant.

The mother does not want to have another child.

•

The mother has not planned to have a child.

The majority of unwanted pregnancy cases happen because of a lack of knowledge about contraception and the inconsistency of contraception use.

What are the consequences of unintended pregnancy?

After realizing her unwanted pregnancy, the first thought in a woman’s mind is often the urge to abort it. The saddening fact makes women turn to ways to abort their children illegally. Unsafe abortion has severe risks and consequences for women who have undergone it. Some of the complications that can happen after unsafe abortion includes: • • •

Fail to remove pregnancy tissues in the uterus.

Heavy bleeding.

Damage of urinary tract and/or reproductive organs because of sharp objects inserted.

Women with unintended pregnancies also suffer from socioeconomic issues. Shame, humiliation, and exclusion from society often haunt women who are pregnant outside wedlock. They are also often not given a chance to graduate and accomplish their study, moreover higher education level.

How to prevent unintended pregnancy and the risks?

Prevention of unintended pregnancy takes the form of adequate education and implementation of public policies. Everyone should receive sufficient comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) since early years.

Adequate education about sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially contraception, should be the basis for women to plan and prepare for pregnancy at the proper stages of their lives.

The other matter that has to be issued to decrease unintended pregnancy cases is women empowerment. There are yet countless men that oppose their partners from using contraception; whereas women should be able to make their own decision for their own body. This particular phenomenon shows that women still need a space to achieve CSE and safely express their opinions.

HIV/AIDS AND OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES EDUCATION AND PREVENTION

H

EART (HIV/AIDS and Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases Education and Prevention) is an event held

by SCORA CIMSA UI 2020 to commemorate World Aids Day which takes place on December 1st every year.

According to our assessment on 119 subjects, there is a tendency of stigmatization for people living with HIV (PLHIV). 93.3% of our respondents believe that PLHIV are involved in promiscuity. Furthermore, our respondents mostly agree (with average score 89%) that there should be a discussion for this issue. Therefore, all those reasons increase the urgency to conduct HEART.

HEART is divided into pre-event, consisting of an online campaign, an open donation, and a creative content competition which was held in collaboration with UNAIDS Indonesia (November 23rd - December 3rd, 2020); and main event consisting of a webinar and a talk show with PLHIV (December 5th, 2020). Included in our online campaign is a quiz on myth/ fact about HIV/AIDS, World AIDS Day Quiz, and the clarification of the previous myth/fact. The theme of this year’s creative content competition is about “Zero HIV Stigma and Discrimination” and “Education and Prevention of HIV/AIDS” in order to increase awareness and knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS and other STDs. Through our main event, online campaign, and creative content competition, we hope we can provide a better understanding of HIV/ AIDS from verified sources, as well as helping to eradicate stigmas and discriminations toward PLHIV.

BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

B

reast cancer and cervical cancer, respectively, are the cancer cases with the highest numbers in Indonesia. This phenomenon indicates that Indonesian women do not have an adequate awareness and knowledge about these cancers, although both can be managed and prevented well if treated early.

Responding to this fact, SCORA CIMSA UI held Bravest (Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Month) from the 1st to the 24th of October 2020. Bravest consisted of online campaigns and a hybrid of webinar-talkshow as the main project.

The webinar session, titled “Let’s Know and Detect Breast and Cervical Cancer,” brought two speakers with expertise in breast oncology and gynecological oncology. The first speaker of the session was Dr. dr. Tofan Widya Utami, SpOG(K), a staff at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology FKUI-RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo. She brought a wholesome presentation about cervical cancer and the technologies concerning prevention and

early detection. The second speaker of the session was dr. Bob Andinata, SpB(K)Onk a member of The Indonesian Society of Surgical Oncology (PERABOI). He presented a thorough presentation about breast cancer and early detection of it-breast self-exam, clinical breast exam, and imaging technologies to confirm the diagnosis.

The talk show focused on the narration of a breast cancer’s survivor. The speaker for the session is Evilin Kumala, a breast cancer survivor from LovePink Indonesia. Evilin shared her story on receiving her diagnosis, the treatments, and the ways she coped with the verdict. “When I was stuck in the dark, a fellow warrior said to me that this too shall pass,” said Evilin, “The phrase runs deep within me. I learned that we have full control of our mind and body, and I managed to perform mindfulness.”

We sincerely hope that Bravest webinar session can enlighten our participants’ awareness and knowledge about breast and cervical cancer and help them develop a habit of breast self-exam and attending pap smear.

SAFARI

STOP WASTING FOOD FOR LONGER EARTH LIFE

F

ood waste has become one of the major environmental problems. In Indonesia, food waste contributes the most number of waste compared to any other types of waste. Based on the data from Sistem Pengolahan Sampah Nasional (SIPSN) Ministry of Environment and Forestry of The Republic of Indonesia, in Java alone, 46.75% of waste comes from food.

To commemorate World Environment Day, SCORP CIMSA UI created an event called SAFARI: Stop Wasting Food for Longer Earth Life. The purpose of this event is to raise public awareness and give them understanding about food waste and its effect on climate change in order to solve environmental problems.

SAFARI is a webinar via Zoom and Youtube held by SCORP CIMSA UI targeting the public audience. It brought up the

issue about food waste and was held on Saturday, October 17th 2020. The guest speakers at this event were Rahmawati from Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Provinsi DKI Jakarta and Saka Dwi Hanggara from Waste4Change. The event went well despite being held online and the participants were very enthusiastic, proven by the number of questions asked by the participants throughout the webinar.

In this event, we evaluate the impact of this event through a test conducted before and after the webinar. From the satisfaction questionnaire, we know that 69.1% participants become more interested in environmental issues. In this questionnaire, they also stated their plans about how to spread awareness about food waste to the public. Overall, we hope that this event could give much more impact to solve environmental problems.

FIGHT AGAINST STIGMATIZATION OF EX-CONVICT

H

uman Rights Day is an annually celebrated event to raise public awareness about human’s rights. This year, we brought up the issue about the rights and discrimination against ex-convicts.

Surveys conducted around the time that some ex-convicts were about to be released depicts that 71.2% respondents disagreed on the idea of releasing ex-convicts and 91.5% respondents concerned that the release could lead to new crimes, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation was worsened by the fact that there is no guarantee for ex-convicts to get new jobs. It would be very difficult for them, who are labeled as ‘ex-convict’ to find jobs and be accepted by the public.

Obviously, this stigma needs to be fought and the discrimination needs to be stopped. Therefore, we held this event called FASTEN: Fight Against Stigmatization of Ex-Convict.

FASTEN is a talk show via Zoom and Youtube by SCORP CIMSA UI. Targeting the public audience, this event was attended by a total of 150 participants from various regions in Indonesia. The guest speakers at this event were Shaleh Al Ghifari, public defender at Lembaga Bantuan Hukum (LBH) Jakarta; Batara Bisuk, IFMSA

Program Coordinator for Ethics and Human Rights in Health 2020-2021; Elven Aprilnico, sociopreneur and founder of Titik Balik Coffee Roasters; Gusti Made Dwiadnya, ex-convict and founder of Rumah Bali Hidroponik; and H. M. Fajar Surasno, National Officer on Human Rights and Peace CIMSA Indonesia 2017-2018 as the moderator. The event went well despite being conducted online.

After the event, we evaluated the impact this event has brought through a test conducted before and after the talk show. There was an 3.2% increase of participants’ attitude towards ex-convicts. From the satisfaction questionnaire, we also found out that 67.2% participants became more interested in human rights issues.

On this note, we hope that this event could give a greater impact to reinforce the rights of exconvicts. Let’s humanize humans, for that we are all humans after all.

alumni ONE YEAR OF PANDEMIC: REFLECT TO THE PAST AND NOW

I

t has been more than a year since the first case of coronavirus disease has been detected in Indonesia precisely on March 2nd, 2020. Since then, Indonesia has faced with many challenges in adapting life during the pandemic. This situation caused people to be more concerned in their life aspects especially healthy lifestyle and hygiene, as both aspects become the most important aspects to be implemented daily.

COVID-19 in a Brief Until today, epidemiological and virological studies suggest that the transmission of the virus is by the respiratory droplet or aerosol. Droplet transmission is facilitated by being in contact with the symptomatic or asymptomatic patients nor contacts with objects and surfaces that are contaminated with droplets. Aerosol transmission occurs if the patient is in a closed, crowded, and poor ventilated area with an infected person inside. Aerosol can be also transmitted through aerosol-generating procedures, such as inhalation therapy in hospitals.

Current data shows that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV-2) is most commonly found in the upper respiratory tract (nose and throat) for the first three days after the patient shows their symptoms. The incubation period of COVID-19 since being infected

In the pre-symptomatic period, which is 3 days before symptoms may occur, a person infected with SARS-CoV-2 is in an infectious condition. This condition may last up to 8 days after symptoms appear.

The definition operational of COVID-19 always have been updated as research are still being progressed till now. Since 2020, definition of COVID-19 in Indonesia is divided into four, namely suspected cases, probable cases, confirmation cases, and clos contact cases. Furthermore, the severity of COVID-19 case is divided into five, namely asymptomatic, mild, moderate, severe, and critical. These days, condition mid- and long-term sequels of COVID-19 has been found and are still being studied further. Data of the longterm sequels of COVID-19 from patients in Wuhan showed that symptoms and complications could persist 6 months after the patient was discharged.

Diagnosis COVID-19 can be confirmed by examining the respiratory specimens using

the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. The RT-PCR swab will be tested on the 1st day and 2nd day. If the patients result a positive swab on their 1st day, re-examination on the 2nd day is not necessary. Additional RT-PCR examinations can be carried out in accordance with the considerations of the Doctor in Charge of the Patient if needed.

On the other hand, SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing is not recommended in diagnosing patients.

Adjustment of Health Services during a Pandemic The COVID-19 pandemic gives major impacts on health services around the world. Health workers have been making various adjustments, ranging from the aspect of personal protective equipment, patient handling procedures, to adjustments in the increasing number of patients. All health lines including primary, secondary and tertiary levels must understand the management of COVID-19 according to the availability of facilities at each level. As we know, there are 5 levels of prevention efforts based on Leavel and Clark, namely health promotion, special protection, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, disability limitation, and rehabilitation. As the knowledge and research about vaccination COVID-19 are still developing, all prevention efforts are also carried out on all fronts.

Comparing to the situation before pandemic, all health workers are more freely in examining their patients. Personal protective equipment that has been used in multiple layers is not used routinely; Doctors and nurses only need to use masks and official clothes and use more complete personal protective equipment (e.g aprons, head cap, and gloves) when performing certain procedures. However, since the pandemic occurred, self-

protection has been improved. N95 masks, gowns, aprons, face shields, head cap and gloves are standard protection.

The handling of patients has also changed since the pandemic era. In all lines of health facilities, the five prevention efforts against COVID-19 are always implemented. Health promotion is carried out by educating public citizens about 3M; wear a mask, keep your distance while away from the crowd, and wash your hands with soap (memakai masker, menjaga jarak, dan mencuci tangan dengan sabun). Special protection is also applied with the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination. As in last year, we are still focused on educating the public about the importance of vaccines, this year, the implementation of vaccination has begun. In addition, the use of masks is also a special form of protection as personal protection and protection from or to others. Early diagnosis is also carried out by screening all patients when they enter the health facilities. This can be seen with the screening of patient’s history and temperature checks before they enter the health facility. Limiting disability is done by improving the quality of patient care, for example early detection of which patients may need higher health facilities. On the other side, rehabilitation is carried out by educating patients after being exposed to COVID-19 about needs that have to be done for restoring their own health to a prime condition.

As we know, COVID-19 pandemic changed our life. 3M’s slogan has become a daily practice. In terms of the government and related health workers, there is also a 3T slogan that has been continuously to be worked on; test, trace, and treat. These adaptations may continue in our life until research on COVID-19 develops. Hopefully one day, this pandemic will be remained as a history and the next generation can live back to their normal life.

SLEEP AND MENTAL WELL-BEING

NELLI is a project by SCORE CIMSA UI that encompasses three main events which are research, air-campaign, and webinar. Sleep and mental being were chosen as the main theme of this year’s project given the highly prevalent sleep sacrificing practice, especially among college students, meanwhile sleep quality is positively related to mental health and wellbeing. This discrepancy between fact and reality made us realise the urgency of this project to be held.

Our first main event, research, holds the title “Hubungan kualitas tidur dengan kesehatan mental mahasiswa tingkat I Rumpun Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Indonesia selama pandemi COVID-19”. Through statistical data analysis, we found that sleep quality among first year health cluster students in UI are positively correlated with mental wellbeing.

We also held an air campaign to improve awareness around the topic sleep and mental wellbeing. The air campaign consists of “Bingo” and “True or False” that challenges the habit and knowledge of the public about sleep and its relation to mental health.

On the top of that, we held a webinar “Importance of Sleep and Mental Wellbeing during COVID-19 Pandemic” inviting psychiatrist dr. Gina Anindyajati, Sp.KJ as the speaker. The participants were given lots of insights about the definition of mental health, sleep and how this COVID-19 pandemic affect our sleep. Besides, she explained about the correlation of sleep and mental health, and some tips that we could do to improve our sleep quality and mental health. Through this project, we aspired to deliver new perspective and applicable knowledge about the importance of sleep to the public, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, towards better quality of life.

PRE-EXCHANGE TRAINING

re Exchange Training is an event held by SCORE CIMSA UI in order to equip our outgoing candidates for their research exchange. The training materials consist of introduction about IFMSA & SCORE research exchange, bioethics, intercultural learning, global health, travel tips & tricks, communication skill, and many more. The aim of the training is to provide outgoings with sufficient knowledge about research exchange and increase outgoings’ motivation for research exchange, since both knowledge and motivation are important in optimizing research exchange experience.

SCORE CIMSA UI’s Pre Exchange Training was held in two days, 12th and 13th December 2020. The first day started with a presentation by Local

Officer in Research Exchange of SCORE CIMSA UI, Theodora Megumi, about Basic SCORE Research Exchange which explain about administrative process of exchange. The second presentation was about Basic Bioethics and Intercultural Learning. Lastly, we invited Vice National Officer in Research Exchange for Internal Affair, Saskia Ratna Desita, as the speaker for Global Health topic.

On the second day, dr. Kevin Varian Marcevianto, who’s a former outgoing from Poland, began the presentation about “Testimony Research Exchange and Communication Skill: How to be Proactive in Communication During Research Exchange”.

The presentation followed by Riana Putri Moegandi, a former outgoing from Czech Republic, about “Testimony Research

Exchange and Time Management Between Research & Travel”. The next session was Mini-Problem Based Learning. In this session, the outgoing candidates were asked to solve some open-ended problem that could possibly happen during the exchange period, such as passive exchange liaison officer, confusing research project, and hidden SCOPE research exchange. Hereby, outgoing was prepared to solve the problem that are likely to happen in their future exchange.

The training went well and the outgoings were very enthusiasthic about the topic of each speakers.

Through this training, we wish that SCORE CIMSA UI outgoings could gain a lot of new perspective and knowledge from our valuable speakers.

LETTER 2.0

LENSES THROUGH THE WORLD

COPE CIMSA UI proudly held LETTER 2.0 with the theme “Awakening Community Potential as Fundamental for being a Better Health System.” We feel the need to carry this theme because in a system, not only one party, the healthcare provider, but a community also become the foundation for a health system to run well.

LETTER 2.0 is divided into several sessions. The first session explained the importance of community empowerment

by Santi Budiasih, MD, a pediatrician in Wisconsin, USA. Furthermore, the second session was presented

by Triana Rahmawati, a founder of Griya Schizofren, who explained about Sociopreuner and stories from the community empowerment program that she founded.

After the two resource persons explained each material, they answered the questions in the Question and Answer session, guided by the Moderator, dr. Fahmi Kurniawan.

The questions posed were highly educated and reflect the critical thinking of the participants. Some asked about the potential of the people in Indonesia, how to improve society’s quality as the start of creating good nation health, and the differences that exist with other developed countries. The various and edifying questions were asked by the enthusiastic participants, making the event, which lasted two hours, not felt as if it was over.

We are thrilled to do this activity again with more thoughtprovoking themes about the health system around the world!

EXCHANGE FAIR E

xchange Fair is a project held by SCOPE and SCORE CIMSA UI to promote the CIMSA-IFMSA Exchange Program.

Exchange Fair had some events that consisted of an online campaign, online discussion forum, booklet, and lastly, talk show as our main event. We created an online discussion forum through LINE OpenChat targeted towards IKM FKUI students that are interested in the SCOPE and SCORE Exchange Program.

We held two air campaigns through social media Instagram on March 22nd and 24th of 2021. The first online campaign we created was the “This or That” challenge.

Meanwhile, the second online campaign we created was to know about the preferred exchange location as a student.

The main event for our project was the talk show that was held on 27th March 2021.

The talk show was titled “Be Au Fait with CIMSA Exchange Program”. The first part of our event started with a brief explanation about the SCOPE and SCORE Exchange Program that was given by our LORE,

Theodora Megumi, and LEO OUT, Patricia Rosalind. The second part of our event was the talk show with three former outgoings as our speaker in which they talked about the benefits and experiences they got from participating in the SCOPE and SCORE Exchange Programs. The speakers are dr.

Kevin Varian Marcevianto as SCOPE former outgoing from Sweden, dr. Lara Asristya as SCOPE former outgoing from Japan, and Riana Moegandi as SCORE former outgoing from Czech Republic.

The series of events in our project Exchange Fair was participated by IKM FKUI students with a total participant of 105. We also made and distributed an electronic booklet, which is available for all IKM FKUI students, containing more detailed information about the SCOPE and SCORE Exchange Program. We hope, through Exchange Fair, IKM FKUI students will be more open to the available exchange programs. We also wish IKM FKUI students to have more interest in participating and enrolling in CIMSA Exchange Program.

NATIONAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT O

ne of CIMSA’s most anticipated annual events, National Leadership Summit, was held online for the first time in history this year. Despite the limitations caused by the pandemic, we, CIMSA Universitas Indonesia as the host, tried to make the best out of the circumstances. This unprecedented online NLS took place on February 18th— 21st 2021, where 810 delegates from 27 universities came together by online meeting. Through this year’s theme, “Enhancing Medical Students’ Capacity as an Actor and an Advocate for the 2030 SDGs Agenda through Annual Mission Statements and Policy Documents”, we aspire to realize CIMSA’s vision to improve nation’s health and empower medical students.

Other than empowering CIMSA’s members, National leadership summit also expose national officials to the members, with the aim to prepare for the next regeneration. National leadership summit provides a media for members to participate in training, general

issues update, grand lectures, games, and other activities, in the means to build members’ capacities. Not only about formal agendas, NLS also has many fun agenda for members to get to know and bond with members from different locals. The delegates also played amusing games that were prepared by the host. The aim was to introduce delegates to Jakarta and its culture even though we can’t gather and visit Jakarta together on this year’s NLS. All in all, it is safe to say that the 2021 National Leadership Summit went well. It was a fun and memorable experience for us, CIMSA UI as the host. We hope that we can make memories together again in the future, though hopefully not just through the screens. We thank every organizing committee and delegates for making the 2021 National Leadership Summit an exciting and vibrant event.
