Mutneys Launches New Showroom
Carrie Jones

Admiring Mutneys products

Leading grooming supplies manufacturer Mutneys Professional Care Ltd, inaugurated their new showroom at its headquarters in Stoke Heath, near Market Drayton on Saturday 14th August.
The opening of the 54 square meter showroom comes as the family-owned company also celebrates 25 years in the grooming business. Directors Jamie and Stephanie Roberts first started the company from their dining room table, and it has since grown to be a UK leader in the industry. ‘We are pleased with what we have achieved in the dog grooming business in the past years and we enjoy hearing about our products performance. The last year hasn’t been the easiest but we all need to look ahead and that’s why we are here today to look ahead,’ said Mr Roberts.
Mutneys were due to open the showroom last year but had to delay because of Covid. ‘Having a showroom means that, for the first time, all our products will be on display in a retail setting so that our customers can come and have a browse and talk to us face to face about their needs,” commented Louise Lamb, Mutneys’ Operations Manager. “We are thrilled to be opening our doors and welcoming our friends and customers after so many months of restrictions” she said on the day. All of Mutneys products, many of which are made locally, were on display including all of their range of Dog Shampoo and Fragrances, the Supertubs as seen on the popular Dog Grooming TV show Pooch Perfect and their dryers.
The new showroom coincided with Mutneys announcing its association with one of the UK’s top grooming experts - Julie Harris. Julie has become established as a leading trainer and has helped pioneer The Groomer Spotlight scheme to give registered groomers a platform to promote their work and continue their training. The Julie Harris range of products are on display in their new showroom and available from Mutneys for the first time ever. “We are really delighted to be able to showcase Julie’s range as part of the event and have Julie Harris trust Mutneys to promote her products’’.
During the event, Steph Roberts also officially presented the cheque of £2520 to Jenny Martinez from Grinshill Animal Rescue.
The event was bustling with excitement not only about the new showroom but also as guests had a chance to win several prizes including a voucher from Mutneys, Clippers from Wahl, Clippers from Heinger and Aqueos Anti Bacterial Shampoo amongst many other prizes.

Burns Pet Nutrition Goes Carbon Neutral with State of the Art Facility
Burns has stepped up its dedication to the environment with a state-of-the art building that minimises greenhouse gas emissions and reinforces their commitment to the community.
Set in 20 acres of farmland, the building is used as a community centre, training facility and conference centre, as well as being home to the John Burns Foundation, a charity founded by Burns Pet Nutrition to establish and maintain a legacy of good causes in the community.
The building is just a stone’s throw away from the Burns Pet Nutrition head office in Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, and features electric car charging points and state-of-the-art solar panels heated by a biomass boiler; a greener alternative to common energy-guzzling heating systems.
The assessment for the building’s Energy Performance Certificate identified around 55 tonnes of CO2 savings per year compared to a building using fossil fuels. In addition to the energy saving features of the new building, the facility includes disability access, a hearing loop for those with hearing difficulties and vehicles that can be borrowed or hired out for community events or charitable causes.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, the majority of household CO2 emissions come from heating. In 2017, the average household generated 2,745 kg of CO2 emissions from heating, and this needs to reduce by 95% to achieve the UK target of Net Zero by 2050.
Burns’ new sustainability initiative is just another step towards their mission of doing as much as they can for pets, people and the community. By today, the John Burns Foundation charity employs 9 members of staff, and has a sister charity in Ireland. Their aim is very simple; to make a difference to the lives of people and companion animals across the UK and enhance the lives of disadvantaged people as much as possible. The building offers practical recreational facilities and life skill opportunities, as well as using the arts, the outdoors and events to bring enjoyment to the whole community.
Alongside the positive environmental impact of the John Burns Foundation Building, Burns also released a more sustainable wet food product earlier in the year. Moving on from their previous wet food branding of Penlan, Burns Wet Food is hand cooked in Wales, made with responsibly sourced ingredients from British and Irish farms and features a new and improved recyclable tray. Seeing no need to change the original recipe, the Burns wet food is still as hypoallergenic and wholesome as ever, and made using a single protein source. The tasty varieties on offer are Organic Chicken, Wild Fish, Hearty Lamb, and Free Range Egg.

Herbal Dog Co launches a new Stop Matting Natural Brushing Spray for dogs, puppies and Doodles.
The Herbal Dog Co which is based in the North East of England and provides an entirely animal-centric range of lotions and potions for any size or breed of dog has recently launched a new Stop Matting Natural Brushing Spray. This spray can be used on any breed of dog or puppy but it is especially good on Poodles and Doodles.
There are currently over 40 different types of Poodle mixes—or Doodles, as they are affectionately called. Since the 1980s, Doodle Dogs have increased in their popularity and this is largely due to their lovable personality making them great companions for any family home. They shed less and have less dander than the breed that the Poodle is crossed with making them ideal for people with allergies. Many Doodle owners are surprised however, at how badly their dogs matt unless brushed regularly or kept in a short cut.
Gemma Stocks, Founder and Product Developer at Herbal Dog Co said,
“There are only two options you have for keeping your Doodle from matting: very consistent brushing and giving you dog a very short haircut. While the low-shedding qualities of a Doodle’s coat are one of the big factors which is why many owners decide to own one, they come with a draw-back: the coat is not low-maintenance. Matting can cause severe pain and lead to behavioural issues. This is due to a dog being in pain when they move. Matting is like consistently pulling a hair brush through knotty hair every time your dog moves so it is important we keep dogs brushed and matt free.” The nutrient rich fennel cleanse in Herbal Dog Co’s new spray allows for pain-free brushing while the mix of hemp and neem oil injects moisture into the coat. It smells amazing as well! The new Stop Matting Natural Brushing Spray costs RRP £14.95 and has recently been nominated for Product of the Year in the PetQuip Awards. It is ideal for grooming salons to sell to customers. Each product from Herbal Dog Co has been lovingly created in the UK using natural ingredients and contains no harsh chemicals. The range is designed to cater for a variety of skin conditions and provides grooming solutions for different types of coat while the herbal powders and tonics are designed to cater for a wide range of common ailments and wellbeing issues. All the packaging is sustainable, compostable, reusable and recyclable. There is great variety of dry shampoos and shampoos (available in salon size) and fabulous fragrances in the range so check out the website.
