Pumpkin is disabled herself and uses wheels to move around.
She (through her family) is organising a disability dog walk at 12 noon on Sunday April 10th at Boultham Park, Lincoln to help three amazing charities that helps dogs with disabilities: Breeds in need, Broken Biscuits, Winstons Wheels
Her owner, Tammie Fox explains: “Pumpkin came to live with us in October after being surrendered to a local rescue, Breeds In Need. I instantly fell in love with her and my son named her Pumpkin as it was close to Halloween.
“Pumpkin was unable to walk and was struggled to move around. I decided to set up a Go Fund Me Page to help her. It went viral and raised £8,000 in 5 days!
“An appointment was made for an MRI scan and a top veterinary specialist for October 27th. Unfortunately, her scan results were devastating - her spine had been broken through trauma and her legs were the wrong way around. We don’t know what happened to Pumpkin, we don’t like to think about it or dwell on it.
The veterinary specialist said Pumpkin wasn’t in pain and could live a happy life using wheels.” Winston’s Wheels donated her a set of wheels, a tiny blue pair... Pumpkin took to them straight away. The remaining money raised through ‘go fund me’ was donated to Breeds in Need.
Pumpkin’s care is ongoing. She needs regular treatments, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and red laser therapy. She is double incontinent, so is highly prone to UTI’S.
Pumpkin has helped lots of charities and other dogs with disabilities. Tammie will continue to raise awareness and raise money for disabled dogs in need.
She said: “At Christmas Pumpkin raised money for Halfway Home Dog Rescue. We donated nearly £600 to the vets to help pay bills. We also delivered lots of gifts for the dogs, blankets, beds, coats, toys & food. “In January we helped a dog called Latcha, another disabled dog surrendered to Breeds in Need. Unfortunately, Latcha cannot use her front legs and desperately needed a custom-built wheelchair. Pumpkin set up a fundraiser and bought her a special wheelchair custom built from Rollin Wheels in America.
In February the wheelchair arrived and Latcha took her first steps! “She is 10 months old and has been in rescue most of her life. She is desperate for her forever home. She hasn’t had any enquiries yet.”
