Tell me about your facilities? the spa has five de-luxe treatment rooms (with Jacuzzis, steam rooms and saunas), three luxury treatment rooms (with hammams added on to the wet facilities per treatment room) and two spa retreat Villas (each also with private steam room, sauna and jacuzzi) plus a bedroom, private treatment room and a fully appointed kitchen.

HArNN Heritage spa is also home to the peDI:mANI:cUre studio by bastien Gonzalez. Our sun peninsula Lounge spa by HArNN at the domestic terminal of Danang International Airport offers pre-flight spa treatments, taking wellness to a new level.

We don’t have a restaurant and café dedicated to the spa, but we have a Wellness menu for the spa retreat Villas, based on traditional Vietnamese cuisine.

All ingredients are locally grown in organic farms in Da Nang and Hoi An and the menu was specially created for us by a Vietnamese chef and restaurateur who runs a chain of restaurants in Hoi An and abroad, and is also a published author.

Also, we are the first to offer ‘essential oil teas’ which is a fusion of fine tea and organic essential oils.

Apart from our best-selling signature massages, our HArNN Heritage bespoke therapies (three treatments in this group) are particular favourites because they were created to look after specific guests, which many spas tend to ignore. the Jet Lag relief is for travellers, the pre-natal packages for expectant mothers (pre-natal treatments when taken at regular intervals greatly prevent post-partum depression – especially for first time mothers) and children’s relaxation therapy (12 years old minimum).

Do you have a signature treatment? the Journey of the marble mountains was created especially for HArNN Heritage spa Intercontinental Danang sun peninsula. this treatment utilises marble and jade from Danang’s very own marble mountains, complemented by techniques handed down by the healers of Quang Nam province.

We are currently offering Wellness selections (of two, three and four) wherein guests get to choose their spa treatments and customise their packages.

We have also pioneered corporate Wellness programmes in the country by creating bespoke spa treatments for large groups. there is no generic magic trick for success; the key is knowing your market, understanding the trends and delivering your product in the highest standard each and every time.

My LIFE… Nerys chell, Managing Director of Eden Hall Day Spa, shares her passion for the industry, and the joys of dog ownership!

What’s your background – have you always worked in health/beauty?

I qualified 27 years ago as a beauty therapist and have predominantly worked in the spa sector, starting as a therapist and working through various departments to take on a leadership role as Managing Director. My experience ranges from setting up a spa – recruitment, training, HR, liaising with product houses, budgets and forecasts – to interior design, refurbishment and health and safety. My current role is extremely varied and no two days are the same.

How do you start your day?

I start every morning with a refreshing walk with Sally, my lovely Jack Russell.

It’s the perfect start to the day!

Do you stop for lunch or graze?

I do graze throughout the day and very rarely take a lunch break. However, I am fortunate that I get the opportunity to try new items on our food menus giving feedback. this is a real perk!

How do you unwind?

I am a keen gardener and love my garden. there is nothing more I enjoy than pottering around. I also find walking my dog very relaxing, especially if the sun is shining.

What’s the secret to your success?

I listen to the team and I am hands-on when needed. It’s important to be openminded, adaptable, to welcome change and be constantly aware of current trends. It’s vital to know the customer and what they want.

What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given? And what advice would you pass on?

Don’t be afraid of change as most of the time it’s a good thing, bringing opportunity to learn and grow. My advice – listen to the people around you as they will share valuable information.

Do you have a philosophy? think before you act, do not do anything in haste. be diplomatic at all times.

What’s your skincare ritual?

Making sure my skin is fully cleansed before going to bed and prepped so it can rejuvenate overnight. I am a big fan of Elemis Pro collagen Marine cream and I have used clarins Eau Dynamisante for 25 years. As an ambassador for the beauty industry I always make sure my make-up, hair and nails are spot on. It’s also important not to neglect the feet… b-line takes care of mine.

Do you take nutritional supplements?

No, my diet takes care of all my nutritional needs.

What do you think is the most exciting thing to happen recently in your sector of the spa industry?
